There are jobs - who's said there isn't? - but there are far more jobseekers.
If every job was filled there would still be millions unemployed. What is your miraculous solution for those people?
It's also fair to say that there are vacancies. However, not every vacancy has a genuine job behind it. One has to sort the wheat from the chaff a lot more these days.0 -
I see the same jobs advertised time and time again and have mentioned this to my JC advisor. I've told her I have applied for these 'vacancies' - several times - and what am I supposed to do, keep applying? Her response was 'Yes' - with a ..' I know it's a waste of time, but...' look on her face.
Even the JC know there's a lot of chaff out there!0 -

Rather than posting bad examples, don't you think it would be more helpful to post some good examples?0 -

I agree that for many your opening sentence is true, but what about the remainder, why are they still long term unemployed?
Not enough jobs to go round perhaps.
Of course I wouldn't expect you to agree with me because you say there are jobs aplenty.
I'm pretty certain I haven't said there are jobs aplenty. Can you show me where you've got this from?
It's not a case of not enough jobs to go round - the ones that are available aren't being filled by LT unemployed. Of course they'll argue they're in a downward spiral and employers won't give them a chance but they are responsible for getting into that spiral in the first place so have to take responsibility to get out of it. The reality of that is doing whatever it takes.0 -

Ask yourself why the long term unemployed with years of experience in applying, perfecting CVs, interview technique etc can't secure the jobs that are there over someone who's relatively newer to the job market? Why do you think that is? How do these newer applicants go through the same system and get out the other end when 'experienced' jobseeksers can't?0 -
