    What's the barrier?
Not having a job like I have said in a previous post. An agency told me in week 4 of not having one.

Also old boss calling an agency for a job 1st question asked 'are you in work'

It appears to be 6 months since you've had a support meeting (after WP?). So after the WP it seems quite relevant to consider why, with all that previous and ongoing experience in applying, perfecting CVs, interview technique etc, why those post WP folk can't secure the jobs that are available over someone who's relatively new to the job market.

What do you think we did on the WP?

I am the same person I was with the same skills I had before it. The WP made no difference at all.

You are not better skilled in getting a job as you have to get the interview first.

Whilst it's true some employers and agencies may take that approach many don't. Many may say they prefer people coming from jobs but consider an applicant who has been out of work 4 weeks. Of course when 4 weeks turns to 3 months, 6 months and years the same agency/employer may have a different view.

    .
True as one agency have put me forward albeit for a 3-6 month job as its a start in 2 weeks time but most I have dealt with didn't want to know after 4-6 months or unemployment even after being on their books for all that time with no interviews. Agencies work for the employer not the candidate.

They see a good CV and say you do not want to work!

OK, that said how do you explain relatively new job seekers get though this minefield and out the other end where long term jobseekers can't. Same systems, same govt, same everything. What's the difference if it's not the applicant?

It seems you are not surprisingly condemning the applicant rather than the 'minefield' of dodgy vacancies that needn't exist.

And how do you know new jobseekers don't apply for such positions as well as their longer term bretherin? How many times (even on these forums) do people say they apply for dodgy marketing positions for example only to be let down? What neither you nor I know how long they may have been out of work.

Its the period of time you have been out of work!

How else can we say it.

Get an interview in week 6 and not get the job then week 6 soon becomes week 15 or more then they are only looking at people in work or who lost their jobs yesterday.

Are you seriously saying every agency said that? Every type of agency for every type of job?

Or was it one agency and you've extrapolated that to mean all?

No, 9 agencies have told me that and I have it in writing.

How do you account for agencies asking people if they are working as the opening question and if you aren't they tell you that they can not put you forward no matter how good the CV.
Employers are telling how high to jump for the fees they pay.

Just to add all the interviews I have had have all been via direct adverts with companies, non via agencies.

There has to be reasons why others are getting jobs over you. Can you honestly identify what these are?

IIRC you said you keep records of all applications and strike rates etc. That should identify where your barriers are. For example, if you're not getting interviews the barrier is with application/CV/content. If you are getting interviews at a reasonable strike rate the barrier must be with interview technique.

How many, and what is the ratio of applications : postive replies : interviews : offers? And in what time scale? For example mine was 70:31:15:4 in 2 months.

Others? Others the same as me or just joe blogs in general? How do I know as I do not know these people.

We are going round in circles here and you don't get it.

How did you get 31 positive replies and only 15 interviews?

    With only 4 job offers?

What is a positive reply? Is 'you have too much experience for this role and would get bored' a positive one? I don't think so.

So on that basis all the replies I get are negative now.

Oh yes and do come back and tell us what your results would have been in that 2 months was 2 years!!

Of course there are hurdles to overcome in job seeking, as there are in many aspects of life. If others are getting jobs that you're applying for and you're not, failure to recognise the problem may be with yourself will only lead to continued failure.

Indeed successful applicants rely on this to some extent, being able to get through sifts and to interviews by being better than many poor applicants who fail to recognise they are poor applicants.

The you's and yours and generic btw.
