Of course as there is none to give

I am sorry to hear they messed you around and especially on your birthday
  • isnt the claimants commitment linked to universal credit? so if that doesnt start in march in your area then you wont have the claimants commitment in march either i suspect. it seems alot of people working in the welfare sector like to scaremonger.

This will be the new "JSA claimant commitment", not the Universal Credit CC. The thing to know is that although the form will look like a UC CC it legally is not as it is still based on JSA regulations. That's important to know because, for example, when they try to tell you that you must do 35 hours of job search each week (and they will) you can tell them that the JSA regs, which are the legal basis for this agreement, do not support such a demand.

You really need to be on your toes with these people.

oh no my b.day was yesterday and the tennis is today :(

Oh well...................went to sign on waited 25 mins to be seen (what they would say if I was 25 mins late)

Asked to see my job search/applications so I said it was in the wallet so he pulled them out. Looked in amazement and laughed 'I will just quickly look over them' to which I replied 'I bet you don't want to read them all, a bit like I didn't want to write it'. He said its like Lord of the Rings! Think he meant it went on, and on, and on................

He looked at each page - 67 jobs in total and then smiled/laughed and said 'well you want a job don't you' I replied 'we all do, surely'!

That comment from me was because I had just witnessed 3 people showing their job searches/applications and not even having more than 3 lines written down.

They all got told about it and that what they wrote was wrong etc as one girl just wrote the week end date and not the date she applied for the jobs all three of them! LOL

I have all my job searches in the plastic wallet I got with my signing on book but all these people produced a screwed up piece of paper out of their pockets!

One bloke was asked does he use the UJM. Ok we all know you don't have to but the advisor just asked him and the reply was 'I just use Google'

I was thinking how is Google a job search site?

I heard him then go on to say he types Warehouse work in Google and then applies for jobs there but he cant seem to upload his CV as he don't really know how to use a PC!!!!
the bloke is on the WP - are they not teaching him how to use a PC and do a proper job search? Ok don't answer that as I know the WP do not do this. I was laughable.

One quick one to end - does anyone else hand in the job search sheet/booklets and the JC keep them?

The bloke who signed me today said they would normally keep them but gave me mine back (never heard that before) and I told him I have every single one since I first claimed so would want them for my records.

A jobcentre guy told me they are trying to prep people for cc by making people do more
the claimant commitment is about filling 35 hours per week rather than doing more. you could easily fill that time up with researching companies and going somewhere to hand out cvs each day. you may say well thats doing more. i would say yes but only if you actually do it.

no not here. the wp used to make a copy and give me mine back. if the jobcentre wanted to keep it i would say well i will need a copy then. how else are you meant to know who you have applied to if they keep your records.

Erm well let me see it will be on the records I have here ie all the automated emails I get from sites like Reed when I apply or when I apply direct to a company I copy and past the job advert into an email to myself and copy the website link too

I have an email folder that contains every job I have applied for.

The point is I didn't want them to have it as I keep all of those too!!

They claim that is the case
But as they keep making spurious claims I intend to ask for he legislation that says I must

You want to keep them or have a copy for your own records.

If they want to start messing people around wanting to keep them, insist on getting a copy or JC copying them for themselves, as they are your documents.

That will shut them up as they'll never want to mess around copying them for people.

Could be that they want to occasionally keep them to check & pick through later to find faults & issue sanctions.

No he said he would normally keep them and I said that's the 1st I have heard of it and I want them

He did look at each job though. I was there ages while he did.

Once signed for that week they cant sanction you for jobs previously as they are meant to sign them off when you are there and some advisors suggested to me I need not even keep them but as I told the bloke today I have them all from the 1st day I signed on!
