Unfortunately there are people who are happy to remain on JSA out there. Yes the majority of people do want to work and there are not enough positions for these people. yes there is a shortage of skilled jobs and we have lost a huge amount of manufacturing and retail positions.
Under all this are long term unemployed people who really do not want to work.
People do get stigmatised and all seen as scroungers but I honestly believe there are those who do and those who chose not to. I cannot change the system, nor can I improve it as can none of us and no amount of moaning witll change that. We all have our opinions and beliefs.0 -
Had my PWPS interview today. Been given direction to register with Universal Jobmatch by next appointment. Nothing in written direction about uploading a CV though.
Have to see advisor weekly until week 11 then it is daily meetings with him and daily signings until 6 months is up so that is like 3 months of weekly appointments and then 3 months of daily appointments.
Also have to do a 2 weeks employability course at local college soon.
No mention of exit report and was not asked what I did on WP. Nor was I told if I was in JCP offer or MIR group. From being told about mandatory course and daily attendance halfway through the 6 months think my jobcentre is treating everyone as not job ready and we all have barriers. Didn't even get opportunity to show them my CV or cover letters etc.
Hopefully something will turn up by Feb because could not stand daily meetings for 3 months.0 -
and i thought i had it bad. at the moment it looks like i wont be seeing my adviser again for 4 weeks at least. as things stand now i may only suffer seeing my adviser twice between now and the end of my 6 months in january. of course that is only how it appears at this moment.0

Thinking of bringing my MP into it. Not right that they assume everyone needs the same help. If they had bothered to look at my CV and cover letters and still think a course would benefit me then fair enough but just to send everyone on this course is wrong. Already got one certificate on WP for a 2 week employability course with Learn Direct.
Looks like every jobcentre does something different. Don't think the daily appointments will be for more than 10 mins. Not much will change day to day.
Guess I could use up the 2 week holiday time and the 2 periods of sickness to delay the course.
Forgot to see about claiming my travel back today. Does anyone know if I keep my ticket I can claim it Wednesday when I sign ?
My jobcentre will be paying out an awful lot of travel getting people in daily for 3 months. Maybe things will change what with that new sceme coming in in April. Getting people in every day for any amount of time cuts into their jobsearching time esp if like me its about a 40 min bus ride to even get to the jobcentre.0 -
they are sending everyone on courses i think. i have done one recently. i got the impression they would be sending me on loads when i last saw my adviser but the last time i signed on i asked if there were any appointments on the system with my adviser and they said no. i then said i suppose i will get one through the post and they said no they dont send them through the post. i will get the next appointment during a signing on session and the appointment will be scheduled for a signing day. that is why its looking like december at the earliest for my next appointment.0

There's no way they can provide "Community Work Placements" for 6 months 30 hours a week without fiddling the placements.
You can see that in way contract has been written.
Also looks like a bit like a rehashed version of Work Programme in way it is managed.2.04 DWP are looking for a diverse range of placement roles, avoiding as far as possible the dominance of roles in charity shops seen in similar existing provision. Providers will be required to work with a range of organisations to source placements of community benefit across a range of employment sectors.
2.05 Providers will deliver a programme of up to 30 weeks near full-time activity alongside additional provider-led jobsearch support and providers will be expected to ensure claimants are engaged in work placement activity for the majority of this period
2.07 CWP work placements must deliver a contribution to the local community and must not displace paid economic jobs or impact existing employees within the host organisation.
2.28 Providers must work to source 30 hour (per week, before taking into account any restrictions previously agreed with JCP) work placements that will last for up to 26 weeks for each claimant.
2.29 DWP are looking for a diverse range of placement roles, and do not want providers overly relying on retail placements within charity shops as seen in similar existing provision. Therefore DWP require providers to ensure no more than 25% of completed work placement weeks involve claimants undertaking retail duties within charity shops. DWP will measure completed placement weeks to monitor and validate the 25% cap.
2.30 The above cap is in relation to placements which are solely related to performing retail duties (such as but not limited to; advising and taking money from customers in retail charity shops, replenishing stock inside retail charity shops, sorting of donated items within retail charity shops etc). The cap does not apply to non-retail work placements within charity organisations such as warehousing, transport, accounting, clerical duties or retail work outside of charity shops.0 -
It's fundamentally flawed.

So, an update.
I got told my job center have changed their mind and the work experience is no longer mandatory BUT if you do not choose the 25/30 hour a week work experience, then you will have to do a daily sign on.. which consists of walking into the job center, signing the sheet and leaving.. alongside seeing the adviser once a week, obviously.Save, save, save, save.0
