The granny does not work and will not have to give up a job. The child cannot go to a regular child minder because she needs toilet and wheelchair facilities plus an extra rail on the bannisters. I have a downstairs loo so when she is here that is not a problem I also have French doors and a wheelchair fits through. Plus she cannot be pushed over by another child or have any degree of rough and tumble. The council have paid for extra wide doors in the family home and the granny's because she was down for respite care.

Well thanks everyone but £45 a week seems to be a great deal less than the father is spending now.

IMO the father is pulling his whack and it would be best not to get the CSA involved. The Gran's attitude has made me very angry. No matter how broke I was I would never consider charging to look after my grandkids.
My mum also looks after my son - I run Rainbows and Brownies once a week and there is virtually no childcare available for a severely disabled child. I don't pay my mum. She wouldn't accept any money if I tried, but I do take her for lunch every so often, and for occasional days out. I'd take her more often if I could afford to.

Yes I used to treat my mum and always gave her a big thanks.

    I think her attitude stinks.

If you feel you don't want to report her for benefit fraud then why did you bring it up that she is working but claiming she isn't?

Of course it's reasonable for him to pay for his own child's child care, why wouldn't it be?

Because as someone pointed out ( might even have been you) that DLA is not means tested so I don't know if she is still able to have that and be working.

The child care in addition what he already pays? Or instead of?

She wants the money paid "under the table" in case it jeopardises what she claims for a disabled child.

Because her Gran wants money to support her grandchild?

How has mum managed in the past?

I did say that DLA isn't means tested but other benefits are.

It's up to them to decide if he pays for child-care on top of what else he pays.

How can the DLA decide if Dad has to pay childcare? Dad already pays more than £45 per week I believe in food etc.

Edit: What do you mean by other benefits?

I'm not up on DLA regulations btw, so I need enlightening.

When the child is at school it is not an issue. Mum takes her to school, granny picks her up and has her til mum comes home. Mum has not always worked. She wants to work because being at home all day sends her round the bend.

Dad needs to stop paying for the food clothes etc and give this money as a lump sum every week/month instead. It seems like he is paying more than his minimum 15% so is not required to pay anymore, he just needs to pay it in a more formal arrangement.

Yes school hols are a big problem. So Gran's issue is having her grandchild all day? Can not mum cater for everything the child needs or - sorry to repeat myself- is it Gran's time she wants payment for?

The PWC should be thankful he is paying and the CSA is not involved. It will take months for those lot to get round to dealing with the case and in the meantime it could result in a breakdown of the relationship between mum & dad and then the CSA will !!!! the assessment up.

There is a link somewhere to make a private agreement on the forum. I will try to find it. But i say don't rock the boat.

It can be tweaked to suit both parents needs.
