Thank you!!! Yes it's why I joined too. My partner is getting exceptionally frustrated with my anxiety over it. He owns his own house with a fab mortgage and has a perfect credit score, so he doesn't understand why I'm so stressed because he knew he would get his mortgage.

Oh dear...why did you have bad experiences If you don't mind me asking?
I will update as soon as I hear anything tomorrow!
It's easy for people who have never faced adversity to not understand or become frustrated when you've never been through this process before AND you've equally had a rough time with it too. I'm a natural worrier and although I haven't got the best credit score, my partner, like yours, has a fab rating and kept telling me at least fifty times a day to chill out  :D

I've got adverse credit.. high debt to income ratio & 1 default from nearly 6yrs ago (mobile phone one) which I haven't settled (for £593). Approached one broker who was honestly so unhelpful and wasn't really bothered with trying to find us a mortgage. Only gave us two options of Accord & then Aldermore. Accord straight up declined due to credit score & Aldermore was going to accept, but only on a basis of us paying off nearly 4k off our debts before completion (impossible when we're already scrimping for the deposit!)

The broker told us to still put an offer in on the house we loved so much and were at a panic station as our offer was accepted and our broker literally told us to 'take it on the chin' and move on... So we decided to go on our own and try a building society given they're more lenient from my experience working for an IFA... Immediately got a DIP online from YBS and then before I submitted the application, I called and double checked with an underwriter to see if they'd straight up decline, which they said over the phone they access on a case-by-case basis.

8 days later, we've received our offer letter in the post today (with no issues at all with underwriting, was literally crying down the phone to the poor woman!) and now we're waiting for all the solicitors stuff to complete as they're just carrying out the searches.

I know it really does seem like an anxious time at the moment, but all the stress is so worth it when you get that offer come through.
  • Good evening,
Hope you are all safe and well.
What a time to be buying a house eh? FTB 95% applying with NatWest.
This is my timeline so far:
    20/02-1st Viewing
22/02-2nd Viewing and Proposed an offer
    22/02-Offer accepted
    28/02-Mortgage appointment and solicitor appointed
    06/03-Mortgage application submitted
    12/03-Valuation instructed
    17/03-Valuation
18/03-Valuation received and my submitted documents are under review

Feeling a mixture of emotions, excited to potentially be buying a property but also worried with everything else going on in the world at the moment. Just wanted to know I’m not alone. I’m a nurse wanting to buy her first house and I’m going out of my mind, anxiously checking my emails every hour.

    Update on me...
Kensington have come back asking for new copies of my payslips because they can't zoom into the ones we sent across 20 days ago. I don't understand why they didn't review all the docs together and then assess what they needed from me, rather than wait for me to get a new deposit source, submit the evidence and then ask for even more info 6 days later.
With everything going on right now, I am so anxious and it is really effecting my health. I just want to know. I've come so far, if after all this I get declined, I really don't know what I will do.
  • Nationwide application submitted on the 23rd, no update yet.  On previous application (Feb) a valuation was booked and notification was given the following day after application, now day 2 and no update!! Given the circumstances it can't be helped !

We’re on hold with NatWest. Submitted on 18th but stuck at valuation stage. High LTV so no hope of a desktop valuation instead, I don’t think. We’re just going to have to wait until it’s safe to start doing them again. Even if mortgage were through we couldn’t get a homebuyers anyway which we still need so just need to sit tight! On the upside, the delay makes cash flow for paying solicitor etc easier.
  • So it seems like they have reviewed my documents, just checked the NatWest tracker and everything seems to be ticked off but it says “We need you to call us to discuss your client's mortgage application. Please call us on NatWest 03459 001110”  Does that mean it’s declined? Broker can’t get through anyways as they are so busy so waiting on email updates. This anxiety will be the end of me :(

I know it is difficult but try to remain positive until you know for sure. I'm sure it would be easier for them to just write "computer says no" than speak to someone on the phone to reject it. Maybe they just want clarification on a bank transaction or something really minor.

If it helps, I know what you are going through. Still anxiously waiting on Kensington to say yes or no. I'm convinced they'll say no even though I meet all their criteria and the broker thinks it will all go through.

Also submitted with NatWest but only just this week, a long wait in store for me I'm sure!

Do keep us updated I'll be interested to see your time line anyway and good luck!

I’m glad I’m not the only one stressing over this. Just want to know if it’s a yes or a no now :( I can’t help but think of the worst too. Do they usually reject over the phone?
