  • I'm hoping not to be waiting in this thread very long, but having failed to find my answer on google for HSBC timescales I hope this proves helpful:

    Exchanged on sale: 20/09/19
    Viewed house: 21/09/19
    Second viewing: 23/09/19
    Offer accepted: 24/09/19
Solicitor instructed, mortgage advisor (L&C) contacted: 24/09/19
    AIP: 24/09/19
    Completion on purchase: 26/09/19
Money from sale received, and various loans/CC paid off: 27/9/19
    Full application submitted: 02/10/19
Query from HSBC re outstanding loans on credit file (resolved with bank statement showing payments: 02/10/19
    Proof of deposit requested: 03/10/19

And now we wait. MA said HSBC were one of the quickest with an average 18 day from submission to offer, and also sub 2% on a 2 year fix 95% LTV which is what we wanted. We are, for the first time in a long time, now completely debt free (although credit report is otherwise "clean" - never missed a payment), but the report is yet to catch up with that fact!
  • I'm currently waiting for a decision from Clydesdale bank. All requested documents where submitted yesterday and valuation has been booked for 14th October. Fingers crossed

As above, 18 days (is that working days or elapsed?) doesn't seem very quick.
See mine above. Mortgage applied for on a Friday. Survey completed following Thursday. Offer made the Monday after that. 6 working days.

And we were far from an obvious "shoe-in" (older, short mortgage, CC debt etc.)

Most people in this thread seem to go from application to offer in under 2 weeks.
The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.
  • 23/9 - agreed sale of my current home;
    4/10 - decision certificate for the mortgage for the new house;
8/10 - got a call with my lender tomorrow (who’ve advised that rates went down on the 1st October so they can save me money so I have to do another ‘advised’ call with them)

Still waiting to hear about the purchaser of my place and his mortgage application ( ), and still got my paperwork to return to the bank tomorrow too. I really hope I hear about his application soon so that I can take comfort that all is ok with the sale of my place.

The stress is right in the background of everything else at the moment (thankfully work is so busy I can barely think about house things), but I really hope it will all progress soon
  • Today we’ve had our mortgage accepted with Clydesdale bank, subject to the valuation (booked for Monday)
I’ve seen on another thread on here that that’s “where Clydesdale normally fall down” and I’m starting to worry again. Does anyone have any experience of Clydesdale bank mortgage valuation?
  • We remortgaged to a BTL last year with Clydesdale, they die valued the house by £30k. We sold it last month for our original valuation!
  • Very worrying! I wonder if this is a consistent trend
  • Finally, we have the mortgage offer through! Delighted! It’s been a long journey but feels like we are nearly there now!
  • We’re waiting for our offer from Santander - using a broker.

    Full application submitted 10th October
    Survey booked for 17th October
Santander asked questions re self employment 18th
    Asked more questions 23rd

Broker answered questions within hours of being asked. Back to the back of the queue now although it wasn’t a need for uploading docs just asked when business was first set up.

Feel like they’re asking all these questions to get out of giving us the money 😢

    Full application to Santander 10.10
    Survey booked for 17.10
Underwriters asked for more documents on 21.10 - first page of my contract (which only contained "contract of employment" title) and my husbands confirmation of address - sent to them - sent the same day

    and still waiting...

From your experience - if they didn't question anything else at that point, whet is the risk that they will ask for more documents related to something else like income, explanation of bank statements etc? all documents were sent via our broker already.I am worrying that I will go back at the end of the queue again,,,

I was hoping to start weekend with some good news but still nothing :(
