Can I join? I am a first time buyer so incredibly nervous!

    03/01 - DIP agreed
4/01 - saw property and fell in love
08/01 - second viewing, just confirmed my feelings
09/01 - first offer rejected, second offer made
    10/01 - second offer accepted!!
13/01 - app put in, payslips and ID all verified with the broker

    will keep you updated.

Update - 24/01 After having put in copies of letters regarding deposits from our Dads, copies of their ID, bank statement etc, everything is now with the broker. Valuation ok, and I am now waiting on the lender to tell me all is ok (I hope...)

I agree with previous posts - this is the most stressful thing I have ever done, and haven't even got to the offer yet.

What's made it stressful? Not knowing?

Gf and I made offer last Wednesday, offer accepted on Thursday, solicitors instructed Friday. We've got all docs ready and applying for mortgage on Monday!

Stanmoor - we have gifted deposits from parents and our lender has asked for more proof than we had expected. Yes - the stress now is not knowing and I don't expect to hear til Friday, so this week will be tough!

Ah ok - that's understandable. What have they asked for apart from the gift letter? Which bank is this with?

Initial application with First Direct over telephone - 13/12/2013
Supporting evidence submitted to FD by post - 16/12/2013
    Offer accepted - 17/12/2013
    Solicitor appointed - 20/12/2013
    Sale particulars received - 21/12/2013
Spoke with FD on the phone and received confirmation application has moved to valuation stage - 24/12/2013

So now waiting to hear from bank's surveyors to arrange valuation. We're having our own structural survey done by a different surveyor who's been recommended to us - should we wait until after the bank's has been done? Or arrange them concurrently

Spoke to FD today - valuation came back fine & they've received our signed offer so all done on the lender's part until exchange!
Our structural survey will hopefully happen this week. &then we can get searches etc done by our solicitor.

Lots has happened! We've had the building survey done, came back with a few issues most of which have/are being dealt with. Need to get a roofer around to quote for a new flat roof & see if we can negotiate to get something knocked off the purchase price to reflect this.

Searches are back and fine, property info form and f&f form back and fine.

Told the landlord of the house we're in currently that we'll be out by 3rd of march and completion planned for mid Feb!

    Fingers are still crossed though.

Can I join and keep this going... I’ve loved reading and it has helped me stay sane. I’m a FTB and only a few days in eek!

11/01/2014 – first viewing and fell in love
12/01/2014 – second viewing fell more in love
13/01/2014 – full application done in Halifax branch. We took all our documentation with us so it was all approved there and then.
    13/01/14 – paid for valuation
    13/01/14 – instructed solicitor
14/01/14 – 16/01/14 – anxiously checking email/phone/post for news of when valuation will be.

The current owners are moving into rented so there is no chain.

I’ll keep you posted. Exciting times but I’m still so nervous/anxious.

    A few updates for you.
21/01/14 - Valuation and homebuyers carried out
24/01/14 - recieved valuation and report all god :) a few little bits to sort but nothing too scary!
27/01/14 - Hoping my mortgage offer is waiting on my doorstep at home
