14/01/14 - Offer made and accepted - online mortgage application submitted.
15/01/14 - Proof of deposit + payslip posted. Valuation booked for 16th
16/01/14 - Valuation took place, satisfactory report.
17/01/14 - additional proof of deposit requested by lender. (Sold sign up)
18/01/14 - additional proof acquired from bank and sent. Solicitor forms arrived in post.
20/01/14 - Solicitor forms + certified ID posted
21/01/14 - Solicitor received forms + ID, all fine. £300 paid to solicitor for search fees etc. Further proof of deposit arrived with Lender waiting approval.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -

Thought I would join in too! First Time buyer so everyone seems to take an age! when in reality its not.
14/12/13 - 1st Viewing
14/12/13 - Offer made
16/12/13 - Offer accepted
16/12/13 - Solicitor instructed
17/12/13 - Mortgage in principle offered
21/12/13 - Signed application, ID and bank statements handed in at local branch
07/01/14 - Mortgage offer made (subject to Valuation) and Booking fee paid
08/01/14 - Confirmation Valuation Booked for 20/01/14
09/01/14 - Mortgage offer received
12/01/14 - Signed Mortgage Offer sent back to HSBC
The solicitors have not done much if anything as of yet so keeping on their backs to keep things moving forward, easier said than done.
Thankfully we are the only one in the chain, the vendors P/X'd their house with a developer so buying direct from them

18/01/14 - Signed Mortgage Deed sent back to Solicitor
22/01/14 - Valuation Report recieved, all OK
Just waiting for the searches to come back and the vendors to formally exchange on their property, then we are in business! Hope to be in by 14th Feb.0 -
How long does it take for mortgage offer to arrive in post? Mine was approved last week and I got the soft copy from the broker. However it has not arrived in post yet.
Spoke to the MA and he says that he has requested for copies to be resent.0 -

20/7/13 -posted letters through doors of an area we liked - received some responses.
29/7 -4/8/13 - viewed some of the houses, found one we liked, seller agreed to wait until we had got deposit together as he was moving in with his girlfriend.
13/12/13 - offer accepted. Called mortgage broker at L&C not happy with lack of choice so booked appt with Natwest couldn't see us until 2/1/13.
31/12/13 - instructed solicitor.
2/1/14 -Natwest messed us about nobody available to see us until 3/1/13
3/1/14 - Mortgage application completed.
6/1/14 -Application declined.
10-13/1/14 - Mortgage application with Halifax completed and accepted subject to valuation and satisfactory documentation. Paid mortage fee and valuation fees.
14/1/14 - Survey/valuation took place
15/1/14 - took documentation to local branch
20/1/14 - advised that documentation had been lost and asked to produce a second time. Also received a copy of deeds from solicitor.
22/1/14 - took documentation down for second time.
23/1/14 received an e-mail from the processing dept to my mortgage advisor stating that he needs to call me to review my application - rang up to query this told my parners wages fall short of the basic stated wage but that nobody can speak to me right now and should receive a call within 3 working days.

I completely agree with you.
We bought our first house nearly two years ago and that was stressful with us being FTB's. We are now buying our next home (while keeping the current one as a rental property) but we have taken the decision to jump up the ladder several places to ensure we never have to buy another house EVER.0 -
Halifax valuation being done today...very nervous. Hoping it's an early valuation as they've not given us a time, then we may get some news later today0
