Thanks kingstreet, very useful.
So we'll have to see if the survey or searches bring anything up, and then start doing the really serious stuff with the solicitor!0 -
I wish I'd read kingstreet's post a month ago!0

That post is useful, assuming its a timeline in order which it certainly looks like, we should be coming to the end of all that very soon!! So excited!
Just thought I'd share my timeline (so far) as I found these useful when I was waiting for mortgage decision!
As a bit of background we are FTB, and have saved up a 10% deposit using nationwide save to buy.
28/11/13 -first viewing of property.
29/11/13 - completed nationwide DIP online, accepted up to approx 20k more than we needed, phew.
30/11/13 - second, day time viewing of the property.
2/12/13 - first and second offer declined on property.
4/12/13 - offer accepted yay!!
11/12/13 - in person appointment at Nationwide, couldn't be submitted yet as our solicitor wasn't on their panel. Needed to sort solicitor out before it could be submitted.
12/12/13 - changed solicitors (to a nationwide one, included free with our chosen mortgage product), paid mortgage fee and APPLICATION SUBMITTED.
12/12/13 received text to say valuation was booked for 12/12/13 lol
16/12/13 - text and email to say valuation satisfactory.
17/12/13 - email from nationwide to say they need copies of our ID to proceed (these had not been taken because the mortgage advisor said we were ID checked when we opened the save to buy). My dad took the items straight to branch and submitted the items.
20/12/13 ANOTHER email to say that we needed our ID submitted. Phoned the branch to speak directly to our MA who checked and added the ID we had sent directly to our application (she had been off the days prior). She advised now that was done we would probably hear after the weekend.
20/12/13 10pm - text from nationwide to say mortgage was approved!!!!! Didnt expect it til after the weekend and certainly not to arrive at 10pm.
So from application submitted to approval it was 8 days, which potentially may have been less had it not been for the ID confusion.
Very happy with the service we got from nationwide, aside from when my dad submitted the ID and it appeared to go nowhere
Currently in the later stages of the legally stuff and due to move on 31st january.0 -

Thankfully we are the only one in the chain, the vendors P/X'd their house with a developer so buying direct from them :j0 -

After whinging, mortgage formally approved by phone @3.30pm
Surveyors rang to confirm EAs details to make an appt for survey.
7/1/14-Surveyors rang EA - vendors details passed on. EA rang us to confirm contact made. EA said surveyors want to do job by 16th January.
8/1/14 - Contract package received (minus F+F form)
9/1/14 - Contract package returned
13/1/14 - Rang EA to ask when survey was booked. After phone tennis with EA and vendor and surveyor today, 24th Jan booked.16th Jan no longer possible due to vendor lack of contact (according to EA)
Still awaiting fixtures and fittings form - chased EA for it and apparently vendor still struggling to fill it in...they've had it since before Christmas...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Hi everyone, I got my offer from the Halifax on 23rd December, searches are complete, deed has been signed and phoned them up regarding an incentive query and they said the system has gone back to pre-offer. She said she could see the offer had been issued and it just needed to go back to the underwriter to confirm as the system had "glitched" has anyone heard of this before? No new searches have been made on my credit files and no changes apart from using less credit % than when we got our offer. My solicitor, broker and I haven't had a letter to say offer withdrawn so it just sounds like for formality? I hope so as we've picked the kitchen and everything now and due to exchange contracts next week0
