Can I join?
Initial application with First Direct over telephone - 13/12/2013
Supporting evidence submitted to FD by post - 16/12/2013
Offer accepted - 17/12/2013
Solicitor appointed - 20/12/2013
Sale particulars received - 21/12/2013
Spoke with FD on the phone and received confirmation application has moved to valuation stage - 24/12/2013
So now waiting to hear from bank's surveyors to arrange valuation. We're having our own structural survey done by a different surveyor who's been recommended to us - should we wait until after the bank's has been done? Or arrange them concurrently?0 -
Valuation survey booked for Monday 13 Jan. Still awaiting quote for a building survey from our preferred surveyors.
Good luck - I'm getting to the final stages of my purchase with first direct. The Valuation being booked is a good sign as they normally wait until they're satisfied with everything else before instructing that.
I received my offer in the post the day before the valuation happened (although the offer was subject to the valuation being satisfactory).0 -

Update.
08/01/14.
It was something trivial, someone forgot to tick a box apparently ?
Either way, apparently all agreed and done after it's second underwriting !
Just waiting for another copy to come through.
Also got the valuation copy in the post.
So full throttle again, going to the solicitors now to pay more money !0 -
Right, got the spelling mistake in our name sorted.
So we know the bank have instructed a surveyors. No one has said anything like 'offer subject to survey' though.
More waiting...0 -
09/01/14 amended hard copy of mortgage offer recieved.
I have had a look, there is a difference between them...... The first one is missing a fax number on the front page !
All that worry... For a bloody fax number.0 -
It's hard to think of anything else, so I'll start:
29/12/13: Visited new build sales centre
30/12/13: Spoke to FA to assess affordability
04/01/14: Visited sales centre again
05/01/14: Spoke with their FA to vet us to reserve
06/01/14: Agreed terms with builder, property put on hold
09/01/14: Reserved property (signed paperwork, paid reservation fee)
The mortgage broker is coming over on Tuesday, seems like a life time away!0 -
Nationwide - First Time Buyer
18/12/2013 - Offer on House accepted
18/12/2013 - Updated Decision in Principle to reflect change to amount required, ACCEPTED
18/12/2013 - Primary Employment Payslip Requested, SENT
22/12/2013 - Full Mortgage Application Submitted
24/12/2013 - Phone call from Nationwide to say they couldn't read my payslip (one of those thin ones with security backing so when scanned they couldn't read figures). They were therefore going to require employer reference. Nationwide sending out details of what's needed etc. and work to respond via fax.
27/12/2013 - Letter not arrived, but phoned again to get details over the phone of what was required and got work to draft letter with the requested information and faxed.
02/01/2014 - No acknowledgement of receipt of fax, so resent.
03/01/2014 - Just to be doubly sure, went into branch with payslip and employer reference and got them to send them too :-)
06/01/2014 - Nationwide validation appointment booked
07/01/2014 - Valuation accepted, taken from home report as done by approved surveyor.
08/01/2014 - Acknowledgement of payslip and employer reference being received, awaiting approval.
10/01/2014 - MORTGAGE OFFER ACCEPTED.
That's about 3 weeks from application submitted to offer issued. Not bad for over christmas / new year.

Thank you for your post! We've just received our offer in today's post which is very exciting, valuation to take place on Monday. Fingers crossed..0 -
Can I join? I'm in Scotland and buying with the HTB equity loan scheme.
- Halifax AIP received
- HTB approved
- Reserved on new build (paid £500)
- Valuation fee paid
- Payslips & bonus letters to Halifax all approved and in order
Now (impatiently!) waiting on the valuation to be completed - should have been Monday but site was closed at short notice due to family bereavement.
Desperate to know if we'll get our offer. I've heard people saying that if Halifax are proceeding with the valuation survey, it's just a matter of time before I get the formal offer but the suspense is almost too much to take....0
