We only live half a mile away from the new house. I'm wondering if I should go and knock on the door and find out what's going on...

Personally I would pop round and ask, maybe they have a wrong phone number. or they are away on holiday,

I suggested to the estate agent I might do this, and he's going to pop round on his way home instead! Everyone is sure they have the right phone numbers, so something odd is going on. I think best case scenario is they've gone on holiday and not told anyone.

Just to give you piece of mind JaneyLou, we had to delay our buyers valuation survey because I couldn't get time off work and there was nobody else available to let them in, then we struggled to get our availability to match the surveyors so it was delayed further. I did feel like it seemed we were being awkward but we really weren't. If it was the other way round though I'd be feeling paranoid about why the vendor was delaying but sometimes these things happen x

Thanks Pumpkim - turns out the vendors husband is in hospital. Fingers crossed he's ok, must be stressful for them. However, apparently they are struggling with getting a mortgage on the right terms on the property they are downsizing too as well. A double barrelled excuse never sits entirely well does it? More waiting and wondering for us.

Everything is done on mine bar final bits of solicitor stuff.

Just had estate agents ring me telling me seller has been on "getting angry" cos she was told it was 6 weeks form completion by someone (don't know how by cos I wasn't told the same.) The agent asked me to ring my solicitor to chase which I had done a few days ago to no reply. I did it again and was told they'd had estate agent on to and it turns out the seller solicitor hadn't received the documents and no one had chased it to check. Stuff like this is really annoying cos it's delayed it by another week or 2 now just because no one could be bothered to chase each other it seems and everyone stuck in the middle who actually want the deal done are left looking stupid.

    Hi all,
I am a First-Time Buyer with NatWest, here is my timeline:

Friday 30th June 2017 – Offer accepted on property. Spoke to Natwest who had a bit of a delay for mortgage appointments, nervous wait....
Thursday 13th July 2017 – Full Mortgage Interview with NatWest, passed affordability and credit checks, awaiting final decision/offer.
Monday 7th August – Valuation on property from NatWest - again, a bit of a delay to get a Valuation booked in, a bit more waiting was required after the full interview for this!
Tuesday 8th August – Formal Mortgage Offer from NatWest

All in all not bad timings to be honest, now to get final dates confirmed with solicitors....
  • Hi guys!! (Newbie here:D:D)

I don't think I've ever felt this nervous before, this waiting is killing me softly :(:(:(

26/07 Full application submitted with nationwide via broker
27/7 Lender informed valuation will be on the 7/8
2/8 lender requested 6 months worth of bank statements from me and my husband.
2/8 we received a text saying our application is now with the underwriters
    7/8 Valuation carried out

Our broker said we will find out everything on Wednesday (today) whether we get the offer or not. I've been waiting all day and in the end I called nationwide to get an update, the lady on the phone said there is 1 document outstanding to be assessed (which I'm guessing could be the valuation report?) And I will find out on Friday as it will take 2 working days to get a decision.

Are they trying to give me a heart attack

I'm a first time buyer and this is all new to me and one thing I've discovered about myself is that I hate waiting lol :D
  • Can I ask how long it takes in an average purchase from once your mortgage is approved to exchange and completion (assuming no issues)? i know it can depend on the chain but I'm trying to see whether I will be in the house by Xmas!

    Timeline so far
    25th July Agreement in principle
25th July Offer put in on property
    28th July Offer accepted
    28th July Mortgage applied for
28th July All documents needed for mortgage sent through
4th August Mortgage approved subject to valuation

Valuation booked in for 16th August (they couldn't do it sooner)

    31/7 DIP
    5/8 Offer accepted
7/8 Solicitor appointed (currently on hold until mortgage app through)
9/8 Broker appointment, all documents given and mortgage chosen through HSBC
10/8 Broker submitting all documents today and will touch base 11/8

Am I likely to hear next mortgage has gone through subject to valuation?

The next step you'll most probably hear about is the valuation. Depends how long it'll take to get a valuation booked as it's dependant on location and how busy the valuation team are in the area.
