Dajewo - I did take a risk and instruct my solicitors to start the searches before I had the official offer, but I would only lose £175 if it went wrong.

We have used an independent broker, so we haven't got any details to use the mortgage application tracker on the website.

Thinking of ringing broker tomorrow given we haven't heard a peep for nearly 2 weeks. :(

If it's been 2 weeks then I'd definitely call your broker, even if it's just to help put your mind at ease a little

    Hi All.

My first post... joined recently after applying for a mortgage and then waiting anxiously for a decision.

My case is slightly complex, as my partner is a sole-trader, and the purchase of the new home involves the sale of an existing home.

Came across this great forum after spending hours online, and found lots of people in a similar situation to me playing the waiting game. Thought i'd share my timeline so far, if it does help anyone else. I am applying via broker:

    17/05 - DIP - Nationwide
18/05 - Full application submitted. Text confirmation rcvd.
18/05 - Text rcvd 1hr after application to confirm valuation booked for 19/05
19/05 - Text rcvd confirming valuation report now with Nationwide
27/05 - Hard search performed by Nationwide for Credit App.
    ---- WAITING ---- BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY ---
31/05 - Broker confirmed case with assesor
01/06 - Broker requested an additional document
02/06 - Broker chased today and clarified some confusion regarding the house I am selling
02/06 - All docs are fine and confusion cleared. Now waiting for 05/06 for hopefully the offer confirmation.

    Fingers crossed!

Did you find out what full assessment meant?

Our application has been passed onto final assessment today which I'm guessing is the same as full assessment?

I just want to know now, we've been waiting so long!!

Hi all thought I add my timeline

21st April - house put on market
25th April - accepted offer on our house
3rd May - applied for mortgage to buy our next property which is a family member's
4th May - Mortgage accepted in principle - valuation arranged
5th May - contacted solicitor re sale & purchase
19th May - Valuation of property we are buying submitted and was being reviewed
23rd May - Nationwide asked for further information regarding my job in the NHS as I have recently increased my hours so they needed a letter from my manager (budget holder) to confirm new salary.
24th May - Submitted letter from my manager via mortgage advisor this morning.
24th May - waiting to hear whether my buyer has been able to secure a mortgage as they haven't had the valuation done yet on my property. They aren't a straightforward case as they are self employed and its a buy to let mortgage for the buyers son and young family. They seem really keen still and are frustrated that they are still waiting so hopefully won't be too much longer.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Got our offer via text from Nationwide yesterday 01.06.2017. We received it 20 minutes after we had to instruct our EA (Purple Bricks) to relist our property :( Bit rubbish!!! Turns out our buyers were unable to sort a mortgage in the first place! Bit cross that people can view property's and put offers in without at least having an agreement in principle. Not impressed!! We have another viewer due to come this weekend so hopefully we wont have to wait too long!! Our mortgage offer is valid for six months and the house we are purchasing is a family members who is happy to wait so not all bad at the moment lol!! Joys of house selling and buying eh??

Still no clue what a full assessment means! Just spoken to our MA who has told us that we should find out the date of the valuation on Monday.

Does anyone know if they would book the valuation in if they were going to decline you? Seems to me a bit stupid to book it in if they were but don't want to get my hopes up just in case!

Newbie here, and must say I've learnt loads by just reading through other peoples stories on these boards!

We've just accepted an offer on our property and had already paid a £500 deposit for a new build, as its not due to be finished until end of July/beginning of August. My husband has only just started a new job so his debt/income ratio has not been brilliant for the last couple of months, although the only debt we now have is a car on hire purchase and his credit card with 6k, its been completely nerve-wrecking going through this whole process! Hope this makes sense..

2nd May - our house put on the market
4th May - second viewing on new build
9th May - had a DIP with Yorkshire BS verbally before viewing any houses but while going through the affordability checks a couple of days later turns out they were unable to lend us the full amount, even though nothing had changed :(
10th May went to L&C and received DIP in writing with them
10th May - full application in with Barclays
15th May - reservation deposit paid on new house
31st May - we accepted an offer on our house
Today - L&C have spoken to Barclays who have done the valuation so they expect hear back next week

My conveyancer is wanting funds to start the searches which is £300, would people recommend waiting until we know the outcome of our mortage application before instructing this? We can't afford to lose £300 on top of the £500 deposit if it all goes wrong!
