Can't believe we are finally at this stage! Not sure about anyone else but so far this has gone so quickly!!
We are FTB who have been looking at properties for a few weeks for ideas for closer to the end of the year and we have found our perfect starter home!
20th May - Viewed and loved it
22nd May - Offered and was told we wouldn't hear back for 5 working days
23rd May - Offer accepted
25th May - solicitor instructed and memo of sale sent
27th May - Meeting with the mortgage broker
29th May - Mortgage application submitted to nationwide!!!
I'm absolutely petrified we will be rejected as we are so close on our DIP!! Anyone that has any soothing comments please throw them my way as I'm so stressed!!!!First time buyer!0 -
Hi all, new to post...2 kids moving out (yeah I know, my babies are all grown up and flying the nest) and we're helping them move out. They've both been saving for a deposit for 18 months.
Eldest in the last 2 weeks:
11/6 - DIP received
13/6 - Viewed 12 houses (with both of them).
18/6 - Second viewing on 1 house
19/6 - Offer made
23/6 - Offer refused
25/6 - second offer made and accepted
28/6 - Documents sent to Bank and application started
29/6 - Solicitor instructed
Youngest:
10/6 - DIP received
20/6 - Second viewing on 1 house
28/6 - offer made
......haven't heard back yet and still trying to talk him out of it as we don't like it!0 -
Received my offer in the post today
My timeline.
21/04 DIP accepted with Nationwide
05/05 offer made on house
05/05 offer accepted
08/05 full application submitted
10/05 valuation booked for 15/05
10/05 Marriage certificate requested and scanned to MA
15/05 Text from Nationwide to say they'd received the valuation report
17/05 proof of gifted deposit requested and scanned to MA who then sent it straight to Nationwide.
22/05 heard from broker that valuation is fine and signed off
23/05 heard from broker that nationwide didn't realise they had my marriage certificate and it was still outstanding. When they did see they had it, they said they were going to "action it". Advised that they'll issue an offer by the end of the week.
25/05 Received text confirming the offer
30/05 Received offer in the post
I have to say, although Nationwide really stressed me out at times, they were quite quick to be fair.
It took 17 days from submitting my application to receiving an offer, that was with further documents requested and a mix up with one of those documents.0 -

Ours is with natwest. We submitted the application on 20/05 they took the money for the valuation on 22/05 and got an email on 25/05 saying that it's approved subject to valuation. Just waiting till 8/06 for the valuation now.
I was told that they take the money for the valuation and book that straight away now to speed things up. Are you using the mortgage tracker?0 -
We are FTBs, getting a mortgage with NatWest. Gone through the full application in branch on the 27/5, passed the credit check and the application has been submitted to the underwriters.
Yesterday (30/5) I received an email saying that our application has been approved subject to satisfactory valuation, which has now been arranged for 02.06. Still unable to log into the tracker.
So a mini happy-dance for now, but still waiting for the full approval.
Do people normally hold off with instructing their solicitors until mortgage offer is received?0 -
Dreadful experience with Barclays
Two and a half weeks passed since my valuation - they asked for more paperwork from myself and partner and told us we were awaiting a document we needed to sign re our legal situation.
THEN they reject the flat following the surveyors comments, unable to lend on it at all. They would have known this the day of the survey.... left us hanging for over two weeks now0 -

I have started the paperwork from the solicitor but I won't be instructing them to start the searches till I'm happy with the survey. No point spending hundreds on searches until you know that you are definitely going ahead.0
