My broker sent my application off a week ago, she's heard nothing and they haven't requested any more info as yet. survey is being done tomorrow (is that the same as a valuation?) getting mortgage through my bank, Halifax, have absolutely not a hope to being accepted, never seem to have any luck
but have all my fingers crossed! Any ideas when I should here back? X

Halifax have been brilliant with us - we had an advisor called Rory who has called me everytime he says he will and updated me we have our valuation on Tuesday - Pretty sure if valuation goes well that is mortgage offer time - My fingers are crossed for you :T:T0 -
I found out yesterday that I spelt something wrong on a form I had to provide to Nationwide. Re-did it, Checked it a million times then sent to MA. Also query on my contract which MA dealt with immediately. Now everything has gone to underwriter
Apparently everything will be reviewed n 72 hours  So hoping to hear something in by the end of the week :undecided:wall:

Currently in the process of trying to buy my first home and the waiting is torture.
Found a perfect new build flat that my girlfriend and I have reserved using the Help to Buy scheme, but it's hard to get excited without knowing if the mortgage will get approved.
Mortgage advisor applied for a AIP with Nationwide which got declined due to the fact that I had two payday loans about six months ago (both were paid on time and I didn't realise how damaging they could be). He's now applied with Halifax and the AIP was instantly approved, but that doesn't fill me with much confidence. The full mortgage application was submitted three days ago and the valuation fee was paid, so just waiting to hear something.
Coincidently, I logged onto my Halifax current account yesterday and they pre-approved me for a £23,500 loan with monthly repayments of £541. Even though I wasn't interested, that gives me a little hope as the mortgage repayments would only be around £690 per month.
Any idea how long Halifax usually take to respond to applications? The waiting is killing me and it's only been a few days.0 -

I'm in the same situation with Nationwide currently. Can't concentrate on anything! Had a query on my app on Friday which MA resolved quickly. Been told now to wait - not sure how much longer I can wait - it's been over 2 weeks! Hoping for an answer today or by end of this week!0 -

I am sure it'll work out! Best of luck0 -
Update
Just spoke to my MA who said that Halifax have arranged the valuation and confirmed that they are just awaiting that before making their decision. He said that if it was going to be rejected due to the credit checks, it would've been declined by now.
Fingers crossed.0 -
Ahhhhh we have been issued with a mortgage offer! Oh the relief... I can now let myself get a bit excited about buying now! 15 days until exchange, I'm now on countdown!
Good luck to you all!
Nationwide have been great for us so far:

Fingers crossed.
Just to help you breathe easy - They do not take the fee for the valuation until you have passed credit check - We had a scare when our credit check before paying the valuation fee as halifax mentioned they needed 15%, turns out it was computer glitch due to my address being 26 and not 28 and it threw the computer - So the computer scores you at full application.
Good luck to you and massive fingers crossed:D:D
