Hello,
Me and wife are in process of mortgage application with Santander. We are first time buyer, using Help to Buy, no chains. We applied via broker. Wife got new position with her old employer for who she works for last 7 years but because of salary increase around 7 k around 6 months ago the application takes time
Timescale
07/4/17 reservation of plot and same day submitted application via broker
13/4/17 text message from Santander that they received our application and if we have any questions to contact our broker
24/4/17 Authority to Proceed Issued, application with underwriters
25/4/17 valuation date booked for 2/5/17
28/4/17 additional documents requested about my wife salary since doesn't match with amount earned in last tax year
2/5/17 valuation took place
3/5/17 submitted documents to Santander
9/5/17 additional documents/ contract amendments/ contract for my wife requested
9/5/17 all documents uploaded via broker
Now awaiting answer from Santander, do you think is it normal procedure if amount from April's payslip which shows money earned till date doesn't match with money what she earning now since last year in October 2017 got increase so half year was getting better money but on application we wrote what she earns now ( hourly rate x contracted hours x 52weeks)
Just for update we have been approved !
15/5/17 broker informed us that application agreed by underwriter and the offer will be sent to us via post and he will forward us electronic version as soon as he will get one ( broker said that Santander usually send email within 48hrs)
Thank God the waiting time now finished since last couple weeks has been very stressful. Good luck to everybody who is waiting for their decision0 -

Hi!!! Did you receive those updates by SMS? I applied my mortgage with Santander through a mortgage advisor, but the MA don't reply my emails nor send me the updates.0 -
Only received text message from Santander when application has been received by them. Other updates received from MA either calling them or MA called/ emailed to update or tell us to submit more documents. I heard ppl getting text message from Santander when offer is issued but that only found out from other forums/web.0

Just wanted to start my 'awaiting an offer' post. I'm an existing Nationwide mortgage customer who's moving house and hence porting the mortgage and borrowing more. I'd spoken to Nationwide a week or two ago to get a general DIP/idea of how much I could borrow, but since we've actually found a property to buy, the timelines thus far are:
Tuesday 2nd May - rang up to get final DIP against the property we'd bought and book an appointment
Thursday 4th May - had our mortgage appointment and all went well (albeit took almost 3 hours!)
Friday 5th May - received a text/email to say that a valuation had been booked for Monday 8th May, and a separate email to say they have all the documents they require for now.
Wednesday 10th May - text/email to say a mortgage offer has been arranged
:T
4 working days from the start of application to the offer, thanks Nationwide!0 -
Hi Everyone
I have been anxiously watching this forum, and congratulations to all that have received their offers already. My partner and I are first time buyers and are patiently waiting for ours, so I thought I'd share our timeline so far! FYI we applied via a broker for a mortgage with Halifax.
22nd April 2017 - Plot reservation made
24th April 2017 - Mortgage Broker and Solicitor intstructed
26th April 2017 - Application to HTB for Authority to Proceed made
1st May 2017 - Met with broker and Decision in Principle accepted
3rd May 2017 - HTB asked for amendments to be made to application for Authority to Proceed. Changes made and sent back on same day
9th May 2017 - Authority to Proceed received and Mortgage Application sent via broker. Valuation fee taken
11th May 2017 - Documents reviewed by Halifax and Valuation booked for 18th May
Now were are awaiting the outcome of the valuation and decision from Halifax. Fingers crossed all goes well.0 -
Hi All,
My partner and i are first time buyers. We made offer on a property on 27th March which was accepted. Since then it was quiet,, We have gone through a mortgage advisor for nationwide insurance so our updates dont come through very regularly. We received a text on 26 April to say our application had been received. They took money for survey couple days later but now they are asking for more proof with pay as we have allowances on our payslips which they are getting funny about. We provided letter from our employees showing that the allowances are guaranteed and not a claimed expense so just waiting to hear.. Our sellers are keen to move.. I feel that everything takes such a long time with nationwide,,0 -
Evening all. Anyone out there with recent experience with Halifax? Would be keen to hear how your experience has been. Just going through the process as follows:
8th May Full application made(AIP obtained 24th March)
8th May/ 9th May- 5 searches made against us on experian (1 hard)
11th May(today) received a weird text from 'Quest' saying valuation instructed( assuming valuation has been instructed)
All seems to be going rather swiftly at the moment....however I am worried there is going to be a sting in the tail.0 -
