It is highly frustrating but I've accepted it now. I'm hoping that the solcitors can get most of the checks done prior to this and it will be fairly quick once the valuation has been completed. Our house sale is progressing nicely however.

I understand their reasoning. They are going on holiday for 2 weeks and the property is alarmed, so there is no option of leaving a key with the EA.

Sorry Levs - that was directed at you. I tried to quote but it wouldnt let me.

I can understand re the alarm. We went to view a house and as I entered with the EA the alarm started flashing. I was about to run but the EA said it was fine it would flash but not go off. Wasn't funny then but it is now.

Our survey isn't happening till next Tuesday, it's taken them so long to finally arrange it and now it's a weeks wait for it to actually happen. All the legal side is going on though, searches requestested etc. My buyers mortgage has been approved. Just need his buyers to be done and then it's full steam ahead.

13/09/2016 -- more information requested, i suppose this was my fault why this happened, they requested a months worth of bank statements so i gave them the month 9th aug to 9th september.. they requested 9 days today, 1st august - 9th august..

not a problem thought it was my stupid fault anyways..

also, my accountant has had the certificate through that everything is good to go for them - however they're still insisting that my wife is a director even though we have told them, she's not.. So another day, and we'll see.

oh, yeah I also forgot to add that we had our home buyers report today for us come through, but i thought that'll be a bit too early if I am being honest?

considering the valuation hasn't even been done...?

14/09/2016 -- They have said no more information required at this time. Now we await to see what happens now.. seems slightly positive..

    Final Update from me

    6th Sept: Offer accepted
7th Sept: AIP received / Application information sent & received
8th Sept: Received call requesting further info about property purchase and my employers details. I'm sure all this was on the application form but hey ho...
9th Sept: Appointment/interview booked for 12th Sept. Credit check etc passed and ok to continue
12th Sept: 45min Telephone interview done, advisor says I passed everything ok and it has been referred to the underwriter for final decision which usually takes between 4 and 5 working days.
14th Sept: Approved by Underwriters, valuation of property confirmed (done online presumably). Mortgage offer sent to me and a copy sent to my Solicitor.

Not bad going from Santander really.
  • Woohoo! Our mortgage offer has been issued! The valuation was today so all was good. I AM SO RELIEVED and happy! Now for the solicitor's waiting game!

Halifax have been very speedy, and I know they get some flack on here but L&C really have been great. My advisor there has been really helpful and responsive. I am so pleased!

  • Thank you Levs01! This thread has kept me sane.

  • There seems to be a lot of Halifax mortgages on here so I thought I would ask, what credit rating did you come back with to end up getting referred to underwriters? We got a joint A3 at application stage but the MA didnt mention it was being "referred" does that mean we avoided the dreaded underwriter stage? Application was yesterday and I didn't ask on the call and now he's on holiday!!! ARGH, the waiting and un-knowingness is painful :)
  • Sorry to say that they are rubbish ! they agreed in principle and I paid the valuation fee and them the questions upon questions started. Stupid question about nonsense payments on my bank statements. wanting to know what a payment for 15.99 was for in July. The biggest problem has been they ask a question and you answer it they take 5 working days to come back with another question. This went on for months and now we have lost the house.

The words for this unprofessional shower are not postable.

Avoid at all costs, they are timewasters, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a deal with the surveyors who are the only ones who have gained.

    Very annoyed with this company.
  • Halifax? Sorry you're having a bad time... Did you use a broker or go direct? Are you self employed? They haven't asked for my bank statements. Did they ask for bank statements at application stage?
