15 weeks our application for a remortgage has taken todate, ive learnt to be a bit of a realist. They've asked for copies of our books 3 times, statements twice, docs from the accountant several times. Its beyond laughable at this point. They're not all this bad but expect the worst and if better happens its a bonus.

I see, who are you going with? Unfortunately, we had to go with Kensington cause we had no other choice... It's been 5 weeks so far just to try and get onto the ladder, will be 6 on friday.
    [STRIKE]1/12/16 - £152,599.00 [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]11/11/17 - £145,990.00 [/STRIKE] <> Overpaid £3916.
    11/11/18 - £142,074.00

  • Well...

We are going through a broker. They searched the market and got an agreement in principle from Barclays.

8th Sept - Agreement in principle
9th Sept - Full application sent in
**no contact or updates from Barclays
13th Sept - Email from Barclays titled "Offer Letter Issued"

Does this mean it is accepted?!!

Everyone says we should have had online tracking for Barclays but never received this at all? Just this email today?!

Hope some one can shed some light for us!! We are FTB.

    THANKS!!

Offer issued should mean just that. They have agreed to offer you £xxx amount for the mortgage. :)

The remortgage is with clydesdale. We were warned they were a slow lender and expected 8-10 weeks but this is dragging a bit now.

  • Fingers crossed. I asked the broker what the timelines were looking like and she sent me:

"The valuation will take around 2 days to be returned and then up to a further 2 days to be assessed. If the valuation comes back okay the offer will then be issued."

That sounds like the mortgage offer is likely to happen if the survey goes ok. Do you think that sounds like the application has been given the ok? I'm still so nervous!
  • It is highly frustrating but I've accepted it now. I'm hoping that the solcitors can get most of the checks done prior to this and it will be fairly quick once the valuation has been completed. Our house sale is progressing nicely however.

I understand their reasoning. They are going on holiday for 2 weeks and the property is alarmed, so there is no option of leaving a key with the EA.

Sorry Levs - that was directed at you. I tried to quote but it wouldnt let me.

Hi, I am at the same stage as you on my mortgage process. Usually if the valuation goes okay then you will receive a mortgage offer a day or two after. So it does sound like the application has been given the okay!

  • Oooh I do hope so, ap1985!!

I'm starting to tentatively think about new furniture etc. I hadn't let myself get too excited up til this point but I'm hoping this is a positive sign.

Best of luck to you too!
