Our application to Post Office went in today!Won a holiday every year since 2014......come on 2021!!
2020 Winnings Value £37500 -
Having a nightmare with ours, 1st mortgage declined as too much unused credit, 2nd mortgage declined as they wouldn't accept accountants reference (we only have 1yrs accounts for the business), 3rd mortgage with the underwriters since Tuesday so we're crossing our fingers, toes and everything else at the moment0

Well if anyone could trump our time line they would be doing well. Dates are approximate.

13 Dec new build reserved

22 Dec more documents requested. (Including passport renewal same day service as expired, proof of ID for wife in newly rented place as all bills in my name and marriage certificate at time sent off to passport office for our daughter).
2 Jan decline due to credit information. We learn British Gas added a default from partners old address when she had moved out.

4 Feb dip and full application with Precise.
Throughout Feb request more documents including wife proof of address impossible to obtain. Wife on fixed term contract renewed in Jan, ask for proof of 6 months extension after just renewed.
Precise decline on fixed term contract basis.

Just reading in here for some reassurance really, getting impatient & have the estate agents on to me a lot asking for updates when I can't give them any cos I'm waiting for the bank!!!
We're FTB so I really don't have much experience!
Timeline:
3rd April - first viewing
6th April - 2nd viewing
7th April - offer accepted
7th April - online application to First Direct submitted
22nd April - ID sent in (there was a delay with this cos we couldn't find a solicitor to certify that worked outside of 9-5 mon-fri so partner had to book half day at work)
6th May - rang bank to check progress cos I'd heard nothing from them since April, was told we'll just get a text with the decision.
Got contracts through from the solicitor yesterday so things are moving along smoothly with them but literally just waiting for the bank to hurry up with decision, every day that passes I get more nervous!:heart2:0 -
Note you can go into any HSBC bank to do proof of ID for them or First Direct for online applications, at least that is what I was told by HSBC over the phone and that is what I did, saved a lot of time and hassle.
If First Direct use the same online portal system as HSBC, the information is VERY limited, so yes, if you want to know things in more details, you either have to ring them or go into branch, who can contact the relevant underwriting team directly.0 -
I'm anxiously awaiting a decision on a mortgage application made two weeks ago. I've already received a request for an update from the vendors of the property I'm buying.
In an attempt to hedge my bets, I've made a mortgage appointment for next week with another lender. If I hear back in time from the first lender, then I'll obviously cancel my appointment. However, if I haven't heard, then I'm thinking that at least I'll be getting the ball rolling with this other lender and potentially save a few days worth of time. I'm not sure if 1) this is allowed, 2) my logic is sensible and 3) I'm missing something that could in fact risk my original application. I would really appreciate some guidance on this. Many thanks.0 -
As far as I'm aware you won't affect yr initial application until you make another application. I know where you're coming from, I'm in a similar situation and have held off for now, but by the middle of next week will be looking to proceed with another broker/lenderI'm anxiously awaiting a decision on a mortgage application made two weeks ago. Looks like we're Halifax mortgage buddies!
Yay! Have you had any more news?
Here is my updated timeline:
20/4 - First (and only!) viewing
22/4 - Offer accepted
28/4 - Mortgage appt with Halifax. Paid for valuation fee and mortgage fees
29/4 - Instructed solicitor. Gave paperwork into them and paid £200 for them to start searches
4/5 - Solicitors inform me that have requested seller's solicitor's contract
I rang Halifax this morning and my valuation is being done tomorrow. My advisor seems to think that subject to that going OK, I could have my full offer by Friday!?0 -
