I can imagine how anxiety provoking it can be, but you should receive the news shortly. The fact that they did not decline your application is somewhat a good sign. Remember, house purchase usually takes time and not everyone's situation or process is the same.0 -
Jamesjames, I hope that it's a good sign. we have received letter from them saying that they have done some checks and offer will be issued asap and also they reduced our % rate. So hopefully we will get our offer today or tomorrow.***Twins mummy***0

That's all good then for you. It is just a matter of time. All the best to you.0 -
Jamesjames....thanks for your wishes. I know that it's only matter of time and our broker said that there is no reason to be declined, but still there is a fear of that. probably Will never buy house again I think....it's so stressful process lol***Twins mummy***0

After chasing First Direct last week, it turns out they still have not checked my wifes ID docs which were delivered over 3 weeks ago, even though our application has gone to underwriters and been accepted!
We did however have the id returned on saturday, so i am presuming they have now been checked, and we are hopefully getting a call from the valuation team this week
After chasing almost every day for the past week, our docs have been rejected yet again despite meeting what we were told over the phone. We have now submitted ID for a 3rd time, so hopefully 3rd time lucky.
I must say the FD service for mortgages is dreadful compared to current account.
Our seller is now threatening to pull out despite only being 5 weeks into the process!0 -

I've been lurking and watching your posts in particular for some time as I too was dealing with First Direct.
Our application went very smoothly, ID fine, address verification fine, payslips, P60's, bank statements all fine. We had to re-submit address verification for my wife as she's a non-EU citizen with indefinite leave to remain but it was all good after we sent what they asked for. I would say that they appear to want it EXACTLY how they ask for it. So any certification statements you have on copies of originals should match what they ask for, if you need I can dig out the paragraph they ask for, as I recall it is in their mountain of literature somewhere.0 -

Yes this 3rd time we have hopefully covered everything they have asked for. What has been frustrating though is they held our first set for 3 weeks, and then we were told to just "add a name" we did that and it was rejected. Wish we had fully read and covered it off the first time!
Out of interest, how quickly did the valuation team ring you and then how soon was the valuation then done?
Cheers0 -

I'd chase them daily, they probably get peed off with you calling but they seem happy to deal with you when you chase.
I managed to get the address verification signed off and the valuation instructed the same day, the surveyors then booked in the survey for the following day so all in all very quickly.0 -
Great thanks for that, our new ID will be delivered first thing so we will give them a call tomorrow afternoon and see if its now acceptable, hopefully can speak to valuation team as well if by some miracle it is signed off!0

Hi everyone, wow it's been a while since I posted. And now I'm not earning peanuts as an AQA-er I am actually in the position to be an FTB!
So I went direct with Nationwide - after looking at all the other options this seemed like the best rate and decent cashback too. 5-year Flexclusive fix, fee-free at 2.54%,
Now I know that I'm *really* lucky in that I've got a 50% LTV, but my salary isn't much above the national average. So I was really surprised not to be asked about many day-to-day outgoings, just commuting costs, council tax and buildings insurance. None of these scary affordability qs about gym memberships and the like that I'd been led to expect (not that I have any - best things in life, like the sea and fresh air, are free... for now). The mortgage I'm asking for isn't much below what their affordability calculator said they were prepared to lend either. Anyone else found this, or is it just because they'll have the reassurance of my high LTV? Or are they going to ask me later down the line? Argh!
Full survey happening today. Fingers crossed all this effort so far won't be securing a mortgage on a subsidence-prone flood risk that's falling into a tin mine.
My timeline, in case it can help anyone else out:
24 April: Offer accepted by vendor
3 May: Instructed solicitor
7 May: Nationwide DIP accepted online
9 May: Full application submitted
10 May: Free valuation booked for 19 May
11 May: Email from a Nationwide customer care consultant saying she'll be my direct point of contact
12 May: Full building survey
Just waiting on an interim statement from Clydesdale for my savings proofs, come onnnnn - has anyone else found this process makes them a total letterbox-watcher?!
Love and luck to everyone waiting for good news x0
