As if all this wasn't stressful enough, turns out my card has been cloned. Really hoping I've caught it early enough for it to not cause any major issues.

Boom, mortgage has been approved based on my credit search, just the valuation to go now which I'm confident will be fine.

That's the biggest worry out the way now. At least I know they will actually lend me some money.

Broker contacted me today saying all checks and documentation was accepted and the valuation came back fine!

We've been put as high priority as missives need to be concluded by next week so should have an offer within the next couple days!

Argh, documentation problems now! Apparently my husband's wage slips aren't good enough as the name of his employer is on the reverse and not the front (they're those flappy envelope type ones) and I've somehow lost pages 3 and 4 of our child benefit award.

In a separate blunder - the solicitor has just written to me (dated yesterday) to state that she needs our documents and disbursement fee to be paid. Problem is, we took them in last Thursday! Have called to ask what's going on, and had a very confused sounding receptionist say that she'll ask the solicitor to call me back when she's out of her 'meeting'... I am envisaging lots of going through folders and rummaging around in wastepaper baskets

We are just starting this process so may be in this thread for some time haha!

We're using L&C, so far our broker has been fab, he's advised us to go for an HSBC mortgage (no fee and free valuation which brings our costs down somewhat, which is an added bonus) and we just completed the application over the phone. I think it'll be sent off tomorrow so that should start the ball rolling!
    Savings target: £25000/£25000

  • And so like many others, I'm still sitting waiting for a mortgage decision. I'm in the hands of credit decisioning team. Hope at an all time low. Stress at an all time high.

Please let there be an answer this week

Apparently the hold up with our application is because of the seller!

When a Scottish home report is refreshed for the lender (which circumvents the English valuation process) the seller has to approve it. Usually there is no hold up with this at all. We know the report was refreshed on 14/03 and Nationwide asked for it on 17/03 - so the seller has had plenty of time to approve it.

The lender is literally just waiting for this one thing before they can finish assessing our application and hopefully issue an offer. Husband has called our solicitor, who has assured us he is now going to chase up the seller's solicitor. Our solicitor is very efficient and professional, so I'm sure he will get this sorted ASAP.

The seller is an elderly lady who cannot be contacted by mobile phone or email - and often doesn't check her landline messages either! It took a week just for her to accept our offer. I just hope that this is the seller being difficult to contact, rather than her getting cold feet or anything!

I am starting to really feel the stress of everything now . . . :(:( We have people coming to view our rented flat tonight and I just want to know if we should start looking for new places to rent or not . . .
  • Just found out that the valuation has been booked for 8th April. Its busy in London at the moment.

I'm hoping that means Accord have taken the last week to get happy with our paperwork.

£500k flat 80% LTV. No chain.
