Turns out Halifax don't tie you to a chair and slap you about over your spending habits.

Valuation was completed at the weekend, heard back yesterday that I have a full mortgage offer in the post! Happy days!

Now just gotta wait for the final local authority search to come back and I'll be ready to go.

I know its only a day in the grand scheme of things but its frustrating to hear that your underwriter is on a training course all day so is not contactable.

Just got word from the solicitor that the seller has now approved the refreshed home report, so our lender can finally request it and continue with our application. I am just so frustrated with everything.

Hopefully it all goes a bit smoother for you now rhett.

Ugh, I would be very frustrated too stonehedge, hopefully tomorrow holds some answers for you.

    Fantastic news bambos

VictoriaOz I think that very much depends on the local authority in question and whether any additional searches need to be done. Things may have been delayed by the stamp duty changes but hopefully will get moving for you now soon.

How did you choose your broker alice_kate? Were they local or a recommendation, or did you go with a big call centre type one?

Hope everyone else's applications are coming together nicely :)

AFM, was hoping to have an answer back about the valuation today, but no doubt things are still returning to their normal timescales after the end-of-March rush. I don't think I ever appreciated how nerve-wracking buying a house could be!

We've been told by our broker today that there's been a delay with HSBC processing our application, apparently just a system error and they'll be requesting documentation from us within a day or two. Hopefully it won't set us back too much but it's been nearly a week already and I am not the most patient person hah!
    Savings target: £25000/£25000

Less than two hours after we received confirmation that the home report was signed off by the seller, we were emailed a mortgage offer from Nationwide! I am over the moon, and so relieved.

    :T:T:T:T

Once we get the formal offer in the post and sign various documents, I guess it's all over to our Solicitor to get everything sorted. Thank you to everyone who's offered their advice - it's saved my sanity being able to read this thread!

Good luck to all those waiting to hear!

Hi all first post on this great site but been avidly reading since 24 February the day we had meeting with MB. We went with Halifax and doing help to buy scheme. We initially applied for 109160 and would do a 30,000 deposit but they came back and said most can lend is 104160 luckily we can go to 35000 deposit to cover gap. Full application made on 17 March and valuation completed on 24 March but still very nervously awaiting mortgage offer, it's torture as it seems a lot of Halifax offers are made right after valuation. It's a new build and valuation came back with right price for mortgage just no official word back yet?
