I don't know if anyone can answer this but if I were to use my credit card 0% on purchases for under £200 and paid it off in full next pay day would this affect the mortgage application???

I usually put a small amount on this card then clear it but since the mortgage application process started I've been too scared in case it ruins my chances of obtaining a mortgage xx

Any advice would be much appreciated xx

As long as you don't miss a payment you should be fine. I paid for the lenders valuation fee using my credit card.

  • We have got our mortgage offer from Halifax by email woo hooooooo!!!! Hard copy should come by post.
    Updated timeline added below

29/2 - offer accepted on property.
2/3 - dip approved with Halifax, full application started. 53% LTV.
    4/3 - valuation instructed.
7/3 - house showed on right move as under offer. (EA Wouldn't change status or stop marketing property as for sale until survey had been instructed)
    10/3 - valuation/survey done.
12/3 received valuation confirmation in post. Halifax valued at the price we have offered. Phew!
14/3 - into hospital and had a baby !!!! nothing like having everything happening at once!!
16/3- Halifax asked for husbands tax overview for 2015-2016 to be submitted. (Had already sent a tax computation
17/3 - tax overview received from accountant and submitted to MA.
18/3 - tax overview had husbands middle name and his passport does not !?! So had to submit copy of his driving licence. Halifax amended application to include husbands middle name.
21/3- MA advise that Halifax are ready to make an offer but need some more papers from my husband. A p60 from when he was last employed (3 years ago - he's now self employed) and a letter emailed from his accountant stating what he expects him to earn this tax year. P60 sent same day and letter from accountant being sent on 22/3.
22/3 MA advise Halifax need confirmation that husband was PAYE in previous company, what his job role was and was it same line of work as he is in now.
23/3- AM -mortgage offer letter arrived in post. Woo hooooo.
-PM notified broker we had received offer who then said that the offer had been issued in mistake, as they were still waiting for letter from accountant.
24/3 Accountant chased and obtained email copy of letter and forwarded to broker. Broker advised that Halifax had passed application to underwriters due to Easter earliest we can hear a decision is 29/3. Grrr
Received letter from solicitor to advise that they too have received the mortgage offer and have instructed searches.
29/3 received our REAL mortgage offer by email. Hard copy should come in post 30/3. This one has also been posted to solicitor.

Looks like I'm off to waiting for exchange thread. Good luck to everyone waiting on their offers!

i suppose I can add my timeline now after hovering for so long-

Mortgage with Natwest- HTB....bit of an issue of a 3 year old default.

19/01/16 Credit checked AIP with Natwest via broker
20/01/16 Reserved a house on a new build estate
10/03/16 Help to buy paperwork sent... developer waiting on approval to proceed, hence the delays
17/03/16 Receive authority from Help to buy
22/03/16 Full app submitted and valuation money taken out. Apparently Natwest have change the process so the valuation fee comes out on day one when the application goes in.

Anxious wait now....Broker advised me Natwest have been quite fast with decisions lately but the easter hols haven't been good for my mental well-being!

Goodness....turns out Natwest were pretty fast! Notified by email the mortgage has been approved. Should receive hard copy within the week!

Turns out all the stress of the mortgage was getting approved at the DIP stage thanks to my credit history.....I might be jinxing it now though?!
