Here is my Nationwide timeline so far:
29/01: Apply online - DIP accept
01/02: Offer accepted on purchase, full app submitted, requested docs sent 1st class recorded - 3 months payslips each, and a bank statement and mortgage statement for my Wife's BTL with here mum.
02/02: Check case online for docs being received, all marked as received except Mortgage statement for BTL. Phone up to confirm and told not received, get somebody to go through docs who finds it and marks as received. Valuation booked for 02/03.
03/02: Valuation carried out, online case changes to bank statement required for BTL. Phone up, asked why address different for BTL bank statement, confirm this is wife's Mums address. Also on this day have the property I'm selling slightly down valued, call up to amend amount, told this will take up to 72 hours.
04/02: Valuation report updates online, advises of flooding. Paylsips for wife also now showing again as required. Phone up and I'm asked to go back to vendor and confirm if property ever flooded and if not get them to confirm in writing. Also asked why wife's payslip's is different, confirm why, As agent to get vendor to confirm relevant info. Later that day docs required online change again, call up and am asked to confirm if the property will be a 2nd home as wife has BTL, confirm that if they say it is, then it is and that this was all confirmed on app hence why they asked for mortgage statement etc etc.
05/02: Emailed and asked to choose new product as LTV has changed to due slight increase in amount, email back. Doc requirements change online again. Call up and asked why wifes middle name not on all docs, asked to send proof of ID, also asked to both provide one months bank statement.
08/02: Go into branch at 9am and get them to send ID, bank statements and marriage cert for good measure. I then get an email to say they cant lend due to property not being suitable security, call to clarify as had not at this point supplied previously requested info from vendor, told to send this anyway, also advised them I had just been into branch to send them docs. Cue mad panic about property not being suitable and us having to completely reassess our plans, lots of frantic googleing about flooding, local planning recent sales etc etc
09/02: 24 hours pass, no update online, call to chase, person I speak to says that property has been declined as not suitable security, reads out reason why - completely the wrong valuation report, an error was made by the person who emailed on Monday who had mixed up valuations, was told it would be looked at asap, also clarified that my docs sent by branch HAD been received
10/02: Still no update or change online, phone up again, told that they are still awaiting docs (id bank statements etc) Also asked, again, why wife's address different to BTL, reconfirmed this and confirmed had answered this last week. Also confirmed that person yesterday had confirmed docs received. They look through case only to confirm they do have the docs but thy haven't been marked as received. Told at this point that case will be put in front of a senior underwriter in next 24 hours... we will see!

As you can see, with Nationiwde its either the sublime, or the ridiculous!

I feel your pain... It's such an annoying way of working! We've been 5 weeks nearly. So frustrating as it has taken nearly two weeks to get the correct address on the offer and it's been one delay after another which is ridiculous considering it was all signed off previously! Good luck and I hope you hear before the weekend.
  • I also am feeling the pain of the nationwide mortgage offer. I have never known anything like it. I think we have sent them every document we own!

Husband's pay slips seem to be causing the issue but not sure why. He gets paid weekly and we have sent them over about 30+ payslips! He gets paid roughly the same but it fluctuates slightly just due to unsocial hours and weekend work which is a regular thing.

Sent another payslip yesterday and today heard from the broker who has asked us to send over his contract of employment in case they ask for it. I will do this but it doesn't really have a lot on it so not sure what that's going to give them.

So frustrating we put the app in in about mid January so we have been waiting ages. We are wanting to move at the end of Feb and everything else is moving along except this mortgage offer holding us up!
  • Still no offer !
Now the undewritter asked an statemment for my bank account from the 12 Jan until 29th of Feb ( future ) The MA said that provided that I have no charges of unarranged overdraft they will make us an offer 😬
They asked this because for the firat time
Ever on the 16th of November I exceeded my overdraft limit :( Since them I paid off my whole overdraft and have been surplus. But they want evidence of 3 months ( Dec- Jan -Feb) my fault really but I had no idea We would be aplying for a mortgage this soon . We were planning to do after August this year ...
Meanwhile it has been a month that we put an offer and I am now even more worried ...
The MA said we should have the Valuation done independently bearing in ming we will loose the money if it falls through...
As much as I am worried I am also worried about the vendor ... They move out this weekend we had asked for completion on the 10th of March so the 29th of Feb Statement is going to be within the time scale. And provided the valuation is ok we should be fine ....
Hopefully when they receive my Feb stat they won't re start the whole questioning again . They asked about every single thing coming our of both our accounts and specially money coming in ...
I know is proceedure but I never thought it would so in depth ....

All the best guys ... You will have me on this board for a while longer :D

Ah fab, hopefully they'll book ours asap then. How did you know they had booked it?
My MA isn't going to ring them until Monday, so don't think i'll hear anything until then.

We had a text and email from Nationwide to let us know when it was booked for. Took around a week to get the news it had gone through ok but that was only because I rang to chase it up. How are you getting on with your mortgage, I'm assuming the valuation has been done?

We've taken our paperwork and contract in to the solicitors and paid or mortgage deposit and solicitors fees. Just waiting for a moving date!

Does anyone know how many weeks they normally give until the moving date? The house my sellers are going to is empty so there is no chain.

    Hey KatyJane
We sold ours last January and have been in rented until we found the one we are trying to buy now.

The guy offered on 10th October, took three weeks to get into see the MA, the Valuer for the mortgage came 2 days after, then with Christmas and the New Year, all the solicitors closed down for 15 days, we were rung on the 5th January to say it had all gone through and could we be out in 3 days!!! We said NO!! - I have 4 kids, a husband and a tenancy agreement to get, they had not told me any information and the solicitor dealing with our case had left over Christmas nobody had passed on any messages. We were packed, out, and into rented in the space of 7 days. So all in all about 12 weeks. But the last 7 days were crazy.

    The moving date IS negotiable.
I would have been happy to shift some of our stuff into the garage and let them have the empty house on the Friday to move into over the weekend, but the solicitor absolutely insisted on Vacant Possession of the whole thing, and as I didn't have the buyers' phone number could not really offer that to him. So the keys sat in the empty EA's office from 10 am on the Sunday until he picked them up on the Monday.

Yikes, I have just put in a full mortage application to Nationwide today (AIP already recieved), hopefully I find the process quicker and easier than you have.
  • I called them again earlier, after calling them on Wednesday and being told it would be sorted out in 24 hours (couldn't face calling them again yesterday)

The person I spoke to this time asked me why the case had been suspended! For the 4th time this week I explained that someone somewhere within Nationwide had confused my property with another. I was put on hold for 15 minutes and finally it appears that I may have some progress, the person I spoke to said it had been escalated to her manager and their complaints team, and they had indeed made an error. They did however say it may take a further 2 days to rectify.

I have absolutely no issue with mistakes being made, we all make them, but what makes my blood boil is when a very obvious mistake is made and no effort is made to rectify it. in fact, not only have they not tried to rectify it, they have completely ignored it in the hope that it will just go away.
  • Hello! Still waiting... I *think* the Halifax valuation happened yesterday or Wed, her my broker won't reply to emails...

Can't believe we had an offer accepted and DIP on Dec 18!

Praying everything is okay and the solicitors aren't totally unbearable...
  • Been informed today that they have FINALLY signed off our documents at the underwriters but have referred onto a manager on affordability.

This means we should now get some news by the close of business day on Tuesday.

Am worried that they may decline then we are back to the drawing board.

This new affordability thing is a real pain as we've done all the sums and know we can easily afford it!
  • Well, we finally received our renewed offer and our solicitor sent over our missive this afternoon. Fingers crossed we're in our way now!
