  • Finally, 3months since I reserved the house, the lender has finally instructed valuation! .
Will be instructing solicitors today :)
  • Wow, congratulations! There is hope for me yet!

I hope I get my offer before they cart me off to the loony bin, as dealing with Nationwide is enough to make you think you are going slightly mad.

Ours was with nationwide and i've had no problems 3 1/2 weeks in total.

I am really hoping i have the same experience as you and not like the majority of people - keeping everything crossed

Agree it is! I think they are just very very thorough. Will be so pleased when we are in that house!

Will keep my eye out here for when you get your offer.

Offer accepted last Monday (8th), telephone appointment with mortgage adviser on Tuesday 9th, application pack arrived Friday, sent in the application on Saturday, got a call on Tuesday to take card details for fees, got a call from the underwriter yesterday to confirm financials looked good and to take agent's details to arrange valuation. So far so good...

Edit: just found out valuation is booked in for next Friday. Time to settle back and wait a bit.
  • Hi All

I can finally join you :)

16/02- Mortgage appointment with Natwest (we're existing customers)
17/02- Application submitted by the MA
18/02- Valuation instructed within less than 24 hours :D

Looks like we'll get our offer within less than 1 week :) I'm super excited.
  • Hello all, I've found this thread so useful so thought it would be good to contribute our timeline and experience with Coventry Building Society and Coreco. Overall both have been fantastic, with one small hiccup (as you'll see!)

December '15: husband and I decided to consider buying a house and started scouring Rightmove and Zoopla.
5 January '16: met with a broker at Coreco to go through what we were thinking, he confirmed that affordability seemed reasonable, and gave us a list of what docs he would need to submit to a lender when we got an offer.
5-30 January: lots of viewings, some nice and not so nice places, had a couple of offers rejected.
30 January: viewed a house that we utterly fell in love with. We got home and phoned the agents immediately with an offer, followed up by email.
1 February: contacted by the agent to say offer accepted! Disbelief and happiness.
3 February: met with the broker and gave him all our documents, he took us through the AIPs he had for us and the mortgage offers on the market for those lenders. We thought Coventry looked like the best bet.
4 February: broker sent through Key Facts illustration for Coventry BS mortgage, we okayed it and he confirmed all documents submitted to Coventry BS. (A later check of my credit report showed they searched it that same day).
5 February: broker sent through suitability report and said that Coventry had instructed a valuation for 9 February.
9 February: valuation done. Lender requested bonus payslip for 2015 from my husband.
11 February: Lender requested bonus payslip for 2014 from my husband.
13 February: a sunny Saturday morning, and the mortgage offer received in the post!! Massive celebrations until we noticed that there was a typo in my name in the offer. :-( Bubble bursts very quickly and we email the broker to let him know and ask him to contact Coventry to fix it asap.
15 February: broker notifies Coventry of the typo, and they arrange for an amended offer to be sent out with the correct name.
19 February: amended offer received in the post! Hurrah.

Just had an email from the MA (after I mailed her yesterday) I should have a decision by Friday as long as 'everything goes along as it should'. Whatever that means. So the timeline with Accord so far has been

    21/1 Viewed house
21/1 Offered on house and offer accepted
26/1 and 30/1 Mortgage Advisor appointments
    1/2 Solicitors instructed
    1/2 Mortgage Application went in
11/2 Amount offered reduced on affordability from £120,000 to 118,600 over 25 years (which means the mortgage payment is now £500 pm down from £505 pm on affordability!!!!!!)
15/2 Draft contracts sent from solicitor
Threat of a Possible Mortgage by 19th!!
Well we shall wait and see, shall we?

Well I waited until 4.10 on Friday and still no offer.........................................................................................................:(
