  • We're back in the process again after previous purchase fell through just prior to exchange. Precise want a full new application as more than 3 months have passed, so that all went to the MA yesterday and credit checks were done too straightaway. Thankfully nothing has changed in our financial situation so assuming valuation is ok again, we will hopefully get our offer again. This house is a bit cheaper but still looking at same mortgage value to give us some money to play with for works. LTV is only about 25%, was 22% before as we have a large deposit. Fingers crossed.
  • Hi, i'm applying with HSBC (Phone):

Feb 16th - Got mortgage DIP
Feb 17th - Advisor meeting and got AIP and KFI
Feb 18th - uploaded all relevant extra documents for them
Feb 22nd - Confirmed our identity in branch
Feb 23rd - Got update that it's currently being worked on by Underwriters and might hear that day or latest day after
Surprise surprise, day after and not heard anything, getting a bit tetchy really. Only thing that looks bad on our application is that the joint applicant is currently 3 months into a 6 month probation at work (albeit its in the more stable legal profession).

All of this is in the context that we have about 4-5 weeks to exchange contracts because it's a new build. Hoping for any news soon, so if it's bad we can try to move on with another application.

    Hi Guys,

If the valuation is carried out after the underwriting process is it pretty much guaranteed the mortgage has been approved providing everything is ok on the valuation?

Application was submitted on the 29th Jan through a broker and has been with the underwriters until they instructed a valuation which is booked for Friday?

I know the vendors remortgaged the property i am buying for £10000 above what i am buying it for 6 months ago so i don't expect the valuation to be a problem.
  • I applied for my mortgage though L&C last Tuesday on the Wednesday they requested supporting documents which I e-mailed across. The mortgage amount I requested was reduced by £180 which I was willing to pay without extending the mortgage.

Today I heard from L&C they received an email to say they have now reduced my mortgage by £1500 or I could extend it by 1 year and 2 months and lend the full amount and that the valuation had been booked in for 23rd (yesterday).

Now unless they have a time machine not sure how they could
Schedule something today for yesterday but I accepted the longer mortgage as I couldn't afford the extra £1500

I am another Accord hostage!! We have been given the, yeah, absolutely no problem, they will lend you 20k more from the MA, then oops, reduced it by silly smidgeon amount on affordability, then another reduction due to the phase of the moon, then decided we can have the original full amount if we add on 18 months to the original 25yr term (at £490 a month we will overpay so the length of the term is academic). At least their time machine is working for you, they forgot to instruct a valuation survey on ours (from 1st Feb) so we have to wait til 2nd March now.

Accord really is proving quite 'special'.

You are not alone, I feel your pain!
