Our application is in with Santander and about to go off to the underwriters. Situation isn't straight forward (currently got a Santander mortgage but in a fix, missus currently on mat leave, and mortgage based on new income for a new job i start in March), but still hopeful that all will be ok. Was asked to send in new job contract and current payslip at end of last week, and today was called and asked to send in 3 months bank statements before the 'appeal' goes to the underwriters

In general the people I've spoken to on the phone have been helpful and decent. Get the feeling that they want things to work out for you, although I guess the underwriter's job is the opposite!

Apparently after the underwriters it apparently goes to the mortgage team (I guess to finalise the product).

Hate all the waiting, it's a constant nagging doubt in the back of your mind.

Countrywide did my valuation yesterday for Natwest. They said they'd send the valuation report to the lender within 48hours of it taking place. It is what the Natwest's website is saying too.
Countrywide will send the home buyers report to me within 5 working days.

    Oh no! Hopefully today!

We've heard from our Solicitor, searches are back so we are now just waiting for her to send us the contract and search results and explain it all to us.
  • Wahoo! Our mortgage broker has just confirmed our valuation all went well and the Halifax have issued us a mortgage offer! :D

I'm so sorry to hear that, Jonny. :( Did you have any back up place?

It's all go for you, I'm so jealous!

My partner ended up phoning NW direct, and they said it was all done just needing the final click. Will take 2 working days again. They said that the home report actually had the wrong address on and this is where it went wrong! Much more healthful than the brokers assistant, that's for sure... I really need this in before the weekend, as I cannot wait another weekend without this done! I thought this month would just be nice, waiting for the move in date and signing docs here and there... :rotfl:

we do have the option to live with the inlaws for a short period of time, and we have a house that we've viewed before and ruled out for being a touch too small, but they've dropped it in price by quite a lot, so we're hoping to view again.

Worst possible time though - wife is booked in for a c-section next week and was hoping to have things lined up. now it might be back to square one.

Good luck to everyone else - so far our mortgage hasn't been the problem!

Just had a call from the Building Society this evening, not quite at offer stage yet but it sounds like it should be as soon as the broker passes on my proof of deposit to them.

Sounding positive but I will still be happier when everything is confirmed.
