Got declined today
thankfully before valuation was done so haven't lost the valuation fee, but I was a little confused as to why initially as broker declared my 2 old defaults at the AIP stage and that went through fine.
Then my OH says, oh I wonder if it could be that Halifax don't like me as I had a current account with them at an old address that was in dispute. It was closed in the end with a partial settlement in 2008 (as they claimed he owed them £68 and he refused to pay it). I don't know the full details but his credit record shows 3 missed payments and then the partial settlement. I'm a bit annoyed that he didn't mention this before given that he knew we were applying with Halifax. Not sure what to do next really! If it doesn’t move, and it should, use WD-40. If it moves, and it shouldn’t, use duct tape!0 -
give your oh a bollocking for not telling you that in the first place as you could/should have avoided halifax. it wouldn't have been easy with both of your histories, but it's not that bit harderhelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
Trust me, I have done - would never have applied there if I/mortgage advisor had known. He said his credit rating had no issues on it so we only gave the mortgage advisor mine. Turns out he was looking at a 'snapshot' view on equifax that he gets free with his credit card and it doesn't show the same as the full paid one, which he finally bought today! Hoping the mortgage advisor can find us a way forward or we're going to lose the lovely house we've found. If it doesn’t move, and it should, use WD-40. If it moves, and it shouldn’t, use duct tape!0

Good News : - Mortgage Approved
Bad News : - The lender has put a retention of £1000 as there
is no firewall between the flat and neighbours flat. Any idea of how
to deal when retentions come in play?0
