    Making a change in 2013
  • AIP from Halifax 13 September
    Sent payslips etc. 17 September
    Survey happened 10 October
Got homebuyer's report on 15 October
Have just booked a damp and timber survey for 24 October as the surveyor won't give a valuation until that's done.

I'm not so worried about them knocking money off the offer price as I think I can negotiate down, but terrified that Halifax may put a retention on the mortgage as I can't afford to pay a load more money up front on top of my deposit etc. I had Nationwide do this to me before, and though I understand the reasons, it feels very punitive asking you to pay that money up front and get the repairs the done within 6 months before you can get it back.

Completed today, at our request. Nice simple process with the West Brom and their 'free legal' solicitors . Could have completed late sept but delayed as last mortgage payment to Santander was due.

    Good luck to everyone else!

Well, I'm going to join you all too!

Remortgaging from Santander (who would only offer 4.99% on a 2yr fix) to West Brom BS to a 5yr 3.39% fix at 80% ltv.

    AIP 16 Aug
Full application and credit check approved 17 Aug

Waiting for long list of items beginning of next week, followed by the dreaded valuation to give us the 80% ltv.

Bit concerned with a few negative reviews online about the time they take to do things but we're not time dependent as current fix doesn't end till mid Oct.

As for MA, I went through a major one but could only come up with a mortgage costing £60pm extra plus £1000 fees, and solicitors and valuation fees. Went for a bit of online searching and this was one of the first to come up. Wondering if a 10yr I'd would have been a safer option ;)

Hope everyone else's mortgages come through soon.
30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.
