  • Finally got my letter from Customs and Revenue through on Wednesday so it was submitted on 5th February - just a waiting game now hoping to hear within the next few days. Not as stressed as I was with the ID issue as it is out of my hands now and there is nothing I can do. I have got all the wallpaper bought (and furniture ordered) for the new house though and am hoping to move the weekend of the 21st feb so cutting it a bit tight.

    Mortgage offer came through today

Hah finally adding to this thread..

    Viewed property twice before Christmas.

Thought about it for a while.

Put in an offer sometime in January..maybe 21st?

Had decision in principle with Leeds through broker.

Broker is new to my particular set up, have to rely on our SA302s which is lower income than DIP is based on. Broker spends a long time phoning round lenders.

Because of schedules it takes until 2nd Feb last week when we finally meet up to get documents signed and mortgage application with Halifax sent off.

Amazingly in this time vendor has not yet sacked us off.

Have instructed solicitors and sent off forms to them last week (3rd feb).

Looks like Halifax have taken money for valuation today (11 Feb), have checked with agents and Halifax haven't actually booked a valuation survey yet (we went for offer on them doing homebuyer too). Cheeky.

I've only recently started to get twitchy as our letting agents are trying to get us to sign a new 6 month contract and I'm trying to predict timelines for completion etc without even knowing if we have a mortgage offer.

Otherwise the most on it party in this whole process (and I include ourselves in this assessment) are our solicitors, who are super efficient and prompt in communications. Us, the broker, the estate agents, the vendor - all just pootling along without any real sense of urgency!

    Our situation is

    Price £96k
    Deposit £26k
    Lending £70k

I'm going to be very interested to see if valuation comes back in line with purchase price. It was listed at offers of £105k but with the help of forums I steeled my nerve and lowballed them, settling at £96k. I honestly don't think it's worth much more but we'll see.
