Well, we got some news today but it wasn't the "approved" email we were hoping for.
Halifax want more information.
Because our deposit is partially gifted, we sent the usual "this money is a gift, I have no interest in the property and I don't want the money back" letter (obviously put a bit more eloquently than that!). But because the letter starts with "to whom it may concern" apparently it's not acceptable and has to state "To Halifax". The broker thinks this is a new thing and hasn't seen a request like that before.
They also want further bank statements showing the build up of our savings for deposit. They need a few more months statements.
This is fine, we requested the bank statements from Natwest right away and we can get my partners mum to rewrite the letter. It's just a bit frustrating because a) Natwest have been ridiculously slow with sending out the statements we've requested in the past and e-versions won't suffice and b) we had just settled into the "well, we're just waiting on an answer from the bank now!" state of mind.
It's not the end of the world, I know. It's just we're nervous enough as it is and because neither us or the vendor is in a chain, we wanted it to be as quick as possible. Wishful thinking, I guess!
At least the credit check they did is showing on the credit report now!

yes he was being lazy!!!!
I am not impressed with the advisor's 'manners' he is short of useless in that department but so long that he gets me the mortgage and does his bit then I am learning to 'put up' with is lack of manners grrrrr0 -

oooooohhhhhh Kimlock, I think we understand about the 'frustrated' bit!!!
yes they are being quite 'anal' by the sounds of it!!
but you're right, we are 'stuck in this process' and we can only 'move on slowly' and sigh and hope for end...a happy end!
I 'share your pain'0 -
Kinlock - how frustrating for you.
My deposit is a gifted deposit as well and we had to supply proof of the funds in the account and where they came from. I cant remember if we had to supply anything else. The solicitor has got all the paperwork regarding the gifted deposit.
I am a very impatient person but I know I just have to wait now.0 -
Yes, we sent the proof of funds in my partners mums account a while ago, along with the letter. Lesson learned, I suppose!0

No ones had any issues with my NatWest online statements yet, are you selecting the official statement part and printed them from that? They have all the official headers on them. I know 2 others who have had their offers using those, unless Halifax are just being super awkward of course....

Our broker said that Halifax only accept originals, that the downloaded versions won't be accepted0

That is really annoying regarding the statements. It is so difficult because everything is done electronically these days.
Well my Barclays track it as moved on to application final outcome so hopefully something is happening. This waiting is killing me, I have got butterflies in my stomach. I am so nervous and anxious.0 -
The Here's our timeline:
House price £232,000 Deposit £75k
AIP received 13/09
Offer accepted on newbuild 14/09
Difficulties in speaking to mortgage advisor delays process
Further AIP received 27/09 (they had to do it again as they didn't know property was leasehold, although they never asked. Offered 1.5k less)
Full application completed and accepted 27/09
Valuation being done 02/10
Taylor Wimpey wouldn't accept anything lower than the asking price, but got £2k towards Stamp Duty and a further £1650 in extras thrown in.
Does anyone have recent experience of buying a new build. Are surveyors still down valuing, and will the house builder be likely to honor this if it is?
