Our valuation is taking place tomorrow - does this mean all the scrutinising of our wages/affordability has been completed or is there still more of that to come? Unsure what it all means! How long from valuation is an offer likely?0

Grumpybee - I' am in the same situation as you now and was wondering the same thing. Fingers crossed for everyone here.0

Hi
I can't talk for all companies but I know Nationwide credit scored at DIP stage, then after the valuation it was then looked 1 final time and was 'Affordibility checked' - then offer issued - one final sanity check so to speak. I would imagine its similar for most companies, sure someone else could confirm.
Good luck to everyone waiting to hear0 -

I also can't speak for other lenders, but Natwest only instruct a valuation once they are happy to offer the mortgage. I noticed the money for the valuation had gone out of my account before I knew it was booked, contacted my broker and she confirmed Natwest had offered the mortgage and instructed the valuation. It was literally done the following day (I know not all are as swift) and within a few days I had the official offer letter in my hands.
Good luck :beer:0 -
That's really helpful guys thanks. My mortgage (hopefully) is with Barclays and they credit checked us at DIP. I hope the valuation gets done quickly. I am so anxious at the moment.0

Oh thanks! This makes me feel much better as our mortgage is with natwest!0 -
I've got an idea.
When contributing to one of theses lengthy threads, it would make life easier for those replying if you put your lender's name in the subject heading, as above, each time you post.
Then, brokers and borrowers with experience of that particular lender can recount their experience, knowing the answer will be relevant to that person.
2500 posts is far too many to try to find the one where someone said their application was to Woolwich, NatWest etc.

We are with Nationwide and im pretty sure they do the credit checks at DIP stage. The whole process for us has taken 6 days:
We viewed a property on a Wednesday, had our offer accepted the same day. Applied online to Nationwide that evening ( including the DIP) and they requested last months bank statements. They were posted on the Thursday. On the Friday our documents were received and checked and we received notification they were satisfactory. We also had a call on Friday to say that the valuation had been booked for the Tuesday at 10am. On Tuesday at about 2pm we received a text message to say the valuation was satisfactory and that the mortgage had been offered. We logged back in online and our mortgage offer was there to print!
This is the second mortgage we have had with nationwide and both times they have been amazing. Our first house purchase went from viewing to COMPLETION in 13 days as we were first time buyers and the property we were buying had no chain.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or use them again.
Now just waiting for the solicitors to pull their fingers out! Good luck everyone still waiting x0
