Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

  • I've had Nationwide mortgage for 13 years. I attended an appointment with a Nationwide Mortgage Consultant this morning to have a preliminary chat about the possibility of taking out a new mortgage before I decide to put an offer on a house that I'm interested in. We went through all the usual questions that one would expect. When asked what my wife and I spent monthly on childcare for our 3 young children I answered roughly £50; which is actually more than we spend, but in these situations it is prudent to underestimate income and over estimate expenditure.

The consultant advised me that she needed a credible figure. Again I told her, roughly £50. She again questioned the credibility of this figure. At this point I terminated the appointment.

She couldn't handle the truth. I can't do business with a BS who implies their customer is lying to them.

1/9 Applied through broker to Santander
2/9 Santander requested documents from my broker.
8/9 After chasing up progress, my broker told me that documents had been requested but they had not yet sent.. they apologised!
    9/9 Documents validated by Santander
11/9 Santander had an issue with my payslips as my name wasn't on the part I scanned so requested I scan the front part..
    12/9 Santander accepted the docs.
    12/9 Proceeded to underwriters.
    15/9 Santander requested P60's
    16/9 P60s accepted
    16/9 Proceeded to Valuation :)

Im glad the scrutiny part is done now!! It seemed like a never-ending process tbh and could have been very quick if the brokers had been tracking the application properly. Fingers crossed for the valuation.

That would be great if I could access them all online but I can't! Bloody postal account with Cheshire and others will only provide e-statement for end of tax year (so not up to date enough)

My partner had this issue with HSBC. She was unable to print or download e-statements. When she went into the bank they could only print an annual statement. Apparently they had de-activated monthly statements on her account when she agreed to paperless statements. Long story short, she sent 3 months of her annual statements which HSBC had signed and stamped in branch for validity.

  • Hi all

I don't normally post to these threads but thought I'd just give our story with Nationwide:

21st August 14 DIP with Nationwide (Had a Save to Buy account for 14 months) 5% deposit saved.
10th September 14 offer accepted on property
11th September 14 Full mortgage application in branch & all paperwork submitted (except husband SA302s - waiting to receive from HMRC)
15th September 14 Valuation carried out
    16th September Final SA302s submitted
18th September 14 Mortgage offer issued - mortgage adviser in branch confirmed for full amount & term requested!

7 days from full application to offer - just waiting to receive in post!

Can not fault the service from Nationwide really pleased and would totally recommend using them :T
  • Very nervous and stressed here

Fed up with renting so we decided we wanted to buy something after nearly 10 years of living together. Husband who is a contractor approached a broker, was told he could borrow 900k based on his contract.. well, never going to have enough deposit for that anyway.. two weeks ago we viewed a house in a small village that husband's always loved, put an offer in 13k below the asking price the next day and even then still less than 50% of what we were told we could borrow. Offer accepted, and the stress begins!

Mortgage application went in last week via broker to Clydesdale, with 10% deposit, although we could probably afford 15% but don't want to spend nearly all our savings - declined due to a three month gap between contracts that Husband had 18 months ago, we went travelling for nearly a month then he went straight into talks between two clients which took a while, then all the checks etc that he had to go through. This were explained to the broker. Husband was annoyed and I was depressed because I might have to move back in with his mum and dad after the tenancy ends in November. So we have gone to Halifax and with 15% deposit. Valuation instructed on Friday. Fingers and toes crossed.

    Even more stressed now.

Had a call from the estate agent asking if we knew why valuation didn't take place. We didn't know it was booked in in the first place! Apparently it was meant to take place today but they did not show up nor called to cancel. Husband called the broker who said oh the lender is concerned about a gap on my husband's CV so has asked to cancel the valuation!

Husband then pointed out the fact that the broker had previously told him in the first place that the lender was happy with it initially, which was why we agreed to have valuation instructed. Broker said they would look into this.

Then 30 minutes later the estate agent called again to say another survey company has called in to book for a valuation!

I really do not have a good feeling about it.
  • Had an alert from equifax this morning- search done on my credit file by precise mortgages on 17/9. Nothing on hubby's though!
Probably means nothing but at least things must be moving forward!
    Shaking like mad!!!!

  • I was singing the praises of London & Country at first. The person that dealt with the inital stage was fab, lots of updates via email, and called back whenever he said he would. However, the case manager I've been that deals with the 'application to offer' part is already getting on my nerves. Not only is she miserable sounding on the phone, she also hasn't responded to any of the emails I've sent! Not feeling great about it all now!

15/09/14 - Mortgage offer in the post!

Mortgage documents arrived. Wrong house number on the paperwork...

They had put the selling price in as the house number. Which is about 129 houses in the wrong direction.

I'm just glad I noticed. Valuation paperwork has the correct number on at least, so they went to the right house to value it!

Spoke to broker, new paperwork will be on the way.

It's all fun and games, isn't it?!
