Hi all, update we've had one slight problem (see below) but everything still moving so quickly:

08/08: Call from solicitor to say she has discovered flat is in fact leasehold and not share of freehold which it was advertised as, angry call to EA, who had spoke in great length about the benefit of share of freehold on viewings, he realised he had confused this property with another he was marketing. Call to in- branch mortgage advisor who dealt with it fantastically, no major problem. On the whole not to bothered as it has very long lease and we will need to move to bigger place when we start to have kids !

12/08: survey carried out, awaiting response.

12/08: solicitor applies for LA searches, fingers crossed council are on the ball.

    good luck to everyone :)

    GOT THE TEXTTT:beer::j

Full Mortgage offer is in the post to us today, so relived cant believe how quick its taken. Was in work meeting when I got text, was hiding phone in my folder so hard to contain excitement until the end of the meeting!

Hope everyone else waiting gets an offer soon !
  • Just emailed my broker a huge number of scanned documents. Scary to think it could still go wrong after the stress of finding somewhere and having an offer accepted.

I have been waiting on my mortgage application for a while now and was reluctant to post in case I jinxed it. This is for a second property I am buying for my future move to the seaside. It has taken me months to get this far ... but hopefully the end is in sight:

3/2/14 offer accepted on property 1 viewed a couple of days before

8/2/14 property the vendors were purchasing fell through so they start looking again but two months later advise that they are taking their house of the market so start search again

10/5/14 view property number 2, initial offer rejected

13/5/14 second offer accepted ... to be told vendor hasn't started looking for anywhere to move to yet

Next few weeks still no further forward and no sign of the vendor even viewing properties so start search again

2/7/14 updated AIP as the original one was done prior to the affordability

7/7/14 second offer accepted on property number 3 - this one is empty so no chain to worry about ...

12/7/14 full application submitted by broker, solicitor appointed

11/8/14 first available date for surveyor from Esurv to visit property - Homebuyer's report also being carried out - annual leave and very busy in the area apparently!

19/8/14 call from broker to advise mortgage offer received ... Homebuyer's report still awaited although should be available "this afternoon"

    Fingers crossed ...

    9/7/14 AIP with Halifax
    24/7/14 Offer accepted
30/7/14 New AIP with Halifax (with different LTV) declined with "failed credit check"
1/8/14 AIP for 85% LTV with Barclays
5/8/14 Full application submitted to Barclays
12/8/14 Barclays contacted broker saying support documents not received via fax. Broker emailed them instead
12/8/14 Support documents received, valuation instructed
13/8/14 Valuation booked for 14/8/14, Barclays sent for reference from employer

Seems to be moving along rather smoothly considering the reviews I've read about Barclays - fingers crossed it keeps this way!

    Update:
15/8/14 Valuation report to Barclays, employer reference sent
18/8/14 Employer reference received by Barclays
19/8/14 Offer in the post for 85% LTV, 5x salary

Seems to be very fast! Only took 10 working days from application to offer.

  • Heres my story....

4/8/14 DIP of £220 to £229 (slim chance of higher)
14/8/14 view house up for £240k
15/8/14 offer £245k and gets accepted
18/8/14 broker finds deal with Abbey/Santander
19/8/14 send him passport for verification
20/8/14 hoping to submit today and then get a yes or no

Is this the normal procedure or are we doomed to fail?

My valuation was done on Monday and Nationwide issued an offer the same day. Received this in the post today, but before I got home received a text saying a revised offer had been made. Obviously this got me a bit worried that it'll be at a higher rate or something. When I got home to the initial offer, the amount of mistakes is unreal. I am listed as a Miss and my girlfriend as a Mr and I am listed as having the same middle name as her.

Also our solicitor incorrectly lists our initial provisional choice, though not sure if this is my broker's fault for not updating them who I'd changed to, am checking on this. So a copy will have gone to the wrong solicitors!

Plus the offer is for a 2 yr fix at 3.24% rather than the 3 yr 3.64% we applied for. Again, not sure if this is Nationwide's choice or a mistake.

Hopefully the revised offer will correct at least some of this! :p
