Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

Quick question, offer accepted on property Friday. Had one AIP with nTionwide, got a second AIP with Virgin on Monday. Decided to go with Virgin and awaiting application pack to arrive I post. Received all forms to be completed from solicitors yesterday. My OH says he wants to get full mortgage app and valuation done before sending the solicitors stuff back just in case there are any problems and so we don't lose any money.
Is this the right way to do things?0 -
Applied with nationwide on 12th August, valuation yesterday and text saying they have issued a formal offer today! How long will it be til we know what the offer is? I want to know if they are allowing us to borrow the full amount!0

We are now on our second application because our first property fell through. This means we have no time to waste because my buyer is still hanging on and his mortgage offer expires in November.
12th August: Made formal application
20th August: Chased because no survey had been booked (we paid for Homebuyers)
20th August: Countrywide ring up my EA and say they can't do survey until 25th Sept.
I rang up Nationwide and told them I would be booking my own survey privately as this was unacceptable (they still have to do the valuation) so please could I downgrade it back to valuation only (and get some money back). Apparently this means they have to start all over again by cancelling my current product and the NW branch bloke seemed none too thrilled by this (he tried to palm me off on central office, but central office were firm that as branch took payment, branch needed to do it), but tough. 25th of Sept is not acceptable. I'm going to have to chase them again on this, I can tell.
Some of you above seem to have had much more positive experiences though!0 -

Hopefully someone will have some advice. I thought you did it all at the same time but my partner is adamant to get the mortgage and valuation done first. I worry that's going to hold things up and we are in a chain of 5 people. He says he doesn't care about that and wants to take our time, do it properly and not risk losing any money (ie the £350 we need to pay solicitors up front) should the valuation not agree with what we have offered.0 -

I didn't send the solicitors any money until I had that offer in writing in my hands. (My 'official' mortgage offer wasn't issued until the valuation had been completed). The broker appointed the sols, and they sent me a letter informing me I needed to send money for searches on the property, but until I had that offer of mortgage form, I didn't send them anything.0 -
Had to submit new full application due to delays in construction of new build. (14-08)
We got our revised mortgage offer confirmed by MB today (Phew) (22-08)
Waiting around is anxious. Fingers crossed for everyone.
Good luck!0 -
Thought I would join you all.
16/08/14 viewed house and offer put in, meeting with broker aip done
18/08/14 offer accepted
20/08/14 full application with halifax direct credit checks all complete evidence submitted and solicitors instructed
22/08/14 valuation fee debited from my account and received phone call that valuation booked for 1/09/14
I am ftb and hoping thisis good progress. I am driving myself crazy reading horror stories but most on this thread seem quite positive.
Keeping my fingers crossed.0 -

I think that is what we will do x:beer:0 -
Hmm...
Personally I would get things moving, unless your super confident of a swift offer from the lender it can take around 40 days from submission to offer. Put the time for the solicitors to do there bit on top of that and you could be jeopardizing the deal.
plus EA's and sellers also like to see things done in a timely manner. showing your committed to the sale.0
