Sorry to hear that. Did they tell you why? The Co-op initially turned us down but we contested it and they eventually changed their minds. This was pre-MMR though.

Broker said she has appealed it due to them giving us a DIP and things before but still said no!
She has asked for a copy of our credit files and wants to know of 2 accounts which had arrears? I took both our Experian off and since April - the last time I looked at it, they have put a default on and numerous orange late payments!! These are all from years ago and in my maiden name! Experian did not show none of these in April. The default is due off next May as it is from 2009. I can't understand why it has taken all this time for it to go on Experian! (Was on noodle) and why now!

I am gutted, hubby wants to throw the towel in and quit while we are ahead, he thinks it's a sign that it's not ment to be.

Joining this thread finally, after lurking for a little while.......

    DIP (Broker) - 29th April
Offer accepted on house - 6th May
DIP (Yorkshire BS) - 20th May
Full Application submitted - 24th May
Phoned YBS to check receipt, they confirmed it might be lost - 30th May
Application confirmed found by YBS - 2nd June
Further information requested by underwriters - 3rd June

They asked if I wanted to go ahead with the valuation now (and pay for it!) or wait till the underwriters were satisfied, I have asked them to wait, would rather not pay for valuation until I know we are almost there!! Not that I am too worried, affordability is fine and OH and I have good credit records, but the house we want to buy is about 2hours from where we live now and YBS are asking questions about intent to reside and afor confirmation from both our employers about ongoing employment.

Anyways glad to be joining the support network, hopefully we will get there soon! Good luck to all!

    valuation taking place tomorrow

requested more documentation today which I've just sent

If you don't mind me asking, what did they want from you? (we're at the same stage essentially, and they wanted a full most recent months bank statement from both of us)

No not at all, they have asked for a months bank statements from us both. As well as this they have asked for a letter on company headed paper showing my last 2 years bonus & dividend payments.
  • Have been a long-time lurker on here but never posted. Up until a week ago everything had gone so smoothly that I didn't really feel the need - though I now appreciate that reading the odd nice story can help while waiting for something... anything from the banks so I apologise for my laziness!! Anyway, I'm posting now because things have livened up a bit with my favourite building society. Here's the story so far:

1/4/14: Put our house on market having already found the dream home!

12/5/14: Accept an offer on our house and go straight in for the dream and have that accepted too with an agreed move date of 26 June (we can do things fast in Scotland) - it was a good day!

13/5/14: Get straight on the phone to Nationwide to complete the full mortgage application.

14-21/5/14: Call Nationwide new business if anything funny pops up on our online case tracker thingy - this after an extremely painful experience with a small amount of additional borrowing last summer.

22/5/14: The mortgage is approved and the offer is sent out!

26/5/14: The mortgage offer arrives in the post. And I relax. :T

30/5/14: Voice message from Nationwide mortgage consultant saying to call him urgently. It turns out that there has been some kind of IT glitch on my case and they will have to re-process everything AND take another £99 booking fee to get it going again though they will refund it straight away. All of the documents will automatically transfer to the new case and it should be a formality. Stress levels begin to rise again as the memories of last year's 3.5 month adventure begin to resurface in my mind. :(

3/6/14: receive a text and email from Nationwide asking for my supporting documents but am assured that these are automatic and not to worry. I begin to worry.

4/6/14: receive a telephone call from Nationwide asking for my supporting documents. Ask the man politely to check the case notes for anything about the docs coming from a previous case. He confirms that a request was made but nothing followed up. He makes the request again.

5/6/14: the previous documents are now assigned to the case but need to go through the checking procedures again and should be checked early next week.

So here I am, three weeks before moving house and two weeks after receiving a full offer panicking that Nationwide will stay true to form and do nothing until I call them again. And even assuming I do get the offer though next week, what's to stop the same IT glitch affecting the case the day before we move and delaying the funds transfer?

I hate moving house. And although the people on the end of the telephone at Nationwide are really good - their back end systems are clearly in a right state!!

They still can't find anybody to do a mortgage valuation on our BTL flat and we go on holiday tomorrow evening  The broker says the deadline for them to find somebody to value it is tomorrow but I have no idea what that actually means. Where are they going to get somebody to appear from? Are there special surveyors like the shopkeeper in Mr Benn? He's mentioned something about a staff surveyor instead of a panel surveyor but it's so frustrating. The Solicitor tells us they can't do anything more without an accepted mortgage offer and that can't be sent without a valuation so whilst we are on holiday nothing is going to progress.

In other none news our Solicitor is not updating the online case tracking tool so although we sent everything back special delivery (and they've confirmed that they have had it all) the case tool shows that we haven't sent anything back. Very frustrating. Luckily our purchase is completely separate from the remortgage with different solicitors so thank goodness we should still meet our 8 week completion deadline irrespective but it's so stressful.

I was looking forward to a holiday away from the packed house and exchange once we get back with the remortgage money in the bank ready to do the urgent work on the new house. Looks like I'll be checking my emails every day and chasing people instead.

    Update:

27/05/14 -Call broker. Told it has been changed to 10 day turnaround.
29/05/14 -Text from Barclays. Application is being processed. Valuation needed.
02/06/14 - Call frok broker. Woolwich needs employment reference as company name does not appear on payslip. Broker emailed branch manager as Woolwich have copy of P60 and letter from my company confirming a salary increase. Also points out that the company name does appear on my bank statements.
04/06/14 - Survey booked for tomorrow. Broker is still waiting for Branch Manager to confirm employment reference waiver.

    tick tock goes the clock.......

0404/14 - Afternoon. Call from broker, payslip has company name on the front page. Asked to scan over and that should be sufficient. Scanned over same day.
05/06/14 - Builder confirms that survey done in the morning.
06/06/14 - Online tracking indicates valuation received. Details being reviewed by underwriter. Text from Esurv with link to valuation report. Report shows satisfactory.

I now wait with baited breath. Probably won't hear till next week though.
