Sorry, I had to laugh at the lettuce-buying panic! Hehehe! Does make me feel better that I'm not the only worrier!
Good luck with your next steps - 16th June would be brilliant! Very exciting! (Though am a bit envious , too, of course!) And yes, as far as I've been told, Halifax definitely do the underwriting before offering!
Think I'll wait until 4:30, then call. x0 -

I've been a resident psycho for the past 3 weeks and finally good news from the broker today - our mortgage has been approved by NatWest subject to valuation (carried out 2 days ago). :T
As far as I am concerned, this is incredible news and while I'll be walking on eggshells until we get the keys in July (!), I was worried we wouldn't even get past this stage, so here's our timeline (so far):
On the Market - 09.03.14
First (and only!) Viewing (We fell ABSOLUTELY in love with the place!) - 10.04.14
MIP/Offer made (10% over asking price/valuation) - 11.04.14
Closing Date Set - 14.04.14
Upped our offer to 15% over ap/v - 16.04.14
Offer Accepted - 17.04.14
Full Application Submitted via Broker - 25.04.14
Full Application Submitted to NatWest - 28.04.14
Additional Documents Requested and Supplied
(full bank statements, as initially we just submitted pages showing wages going in) - 30.04.14
Valuation Survey Carried Out - 19.05.14
Valuation Survey Submitted to Underwriter - 21.05.14
So current total time waiting from full application is 17 working days... not too bad, considering we applied the day after MMR came into power and our waiting time fell on a few bank holidays!
Best of luck to everyone else waiting - this is the most stressful thing I've ever done in my life and that includes getting married, relocating to a different country on my own and a number of other 'exciting' things. I just don't like not being in control
Mortgage Letter Dated 27.05.14
Mortgage Letter Received (by us) 28.05.14
Papers Signed 30.05.14
Moving in second weekend in July - delighted!:j0 -
We've been told that our survey has been sent out and then rejected by six different surveyors as they are too busy to do it. If nobody has picked it up and agreed to do it by this time next week they will send it to a panel surveyor. How frustrating. It's a low LTV remortgage. On our purchase we had a structural engineer out today as recommended by the structural surveyor. Stress, stress, stress.0

Congrats, Coco_nutty! Exciting times!
M_13, that sounds like a nightmare! Not sure if I can give any advice! I can commiserate, though, as we had survey/valuation-related issues that slowed everything right down! I suppose the best I can say is at least it's just a week?ClareTeaches wrote: »Think I'll wait until 4:30, then call. x
Well, I managed to make myself wait until 4:35 before I called, check me out! :rotfl:
Left a message, then got an email at 5:10, saying it's showing as assigned to someone and he's hoping it should have been done when he gets in tomorrow.
Is it too early to start drinking? It was hard enough getting to sleep last night!0 -
It's frustrating always waiting but at least it's not bank holiday again. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.0

I know you are probably stressed and anything I say will not make you feel better. But there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. I'd put pressure on them and say your seller is getting impatient. x0 -
We're remortgaging so we are the seller
We've had a nightmare with our purchase unfortunately. We've been waiting for the contracts to be sent out for two weeks whilst the vendor's solicitor was on holiday. They've promised they are sending them via DX today and our Solicitor will have them on Monday so the searches can be ordered. Did I mention that we go on holiday next Saturday for a fortnight? We're not telling our vendor it's a fortnight. We are just saying it's for a few days and are going to keep on top of things each day. Not quite the holiday we'd planned but he's already put the house back on the market from the previous buyer which is how we've managed to get it. They couldn't get a mortgage on it as it's a wreck. Sometimes I wish I still drank (but not often). Off to make a skinny decaf tea.

Morning everyone - congratulations to the many who seem one step closer to their new home. Gives me hope
I am feeling at a stand still. Just received the valuation information, thankfully house been valued at price we offered but now we need to get a 'professional to report on the roof void, lower flooring and dampness'. My solicitor has written to seller as they state they've recently had damp proofing done and written to the solar company (panels on front area of the roof).
At this point would people recommend I ask for the survey company to carry out a more detailed inspection or should the professional be a builder who can check the wood/damp situation? My MA is on holiday and I am unsure what or who I pay next to move things forward. Thanks.0 -

Well, turns out the thing that had been assigned yesterday was getting the valuation report to show on the system, so it's just been sent to the underwriters today. They might request it is converted to MMR, though our consultant has put a case for it to not be, as its been delayed due to extenuating circumstances (related to the valuation - see my timeline a couple of pages back!). If it does, we'll need 3 months of payslips (only had to give 1 so far), but he has told me not to worry!
And he's said not to worry, even though the May payslip will show partner as having his promotion/pay rise wage amount (May being the first month he's received it), which consultant had said not to include/change, because it would be a material change (on the original application, which was done on 5 April) ... So, I'm trying to be hopeful, because although MMR will be tougher (consultant has said it does make a difference on 'some' applications), we're now operating on a £6k higher combined wage ...
So, if it's a 72 hour turnaround, I'm hoping Weds/Thurs should be The Verdict! Another week ... Sigh!0
