    Hi everyone,

We got a DIP from nationwide in February and made full application on 10th may, paid product fee and valuation, valuation was carried out on 13th and was good. Today we learned we have been turned down for a mortgage!! 😢

Broker is going to try another lender next week but I am just so upset.

Has anyone been declined by one lender but then go on to get a yes from another?

    Hi Blueberry,

I was also declined by Nationwide and then accepted by barclays who I bank with the sale fell through due to no fault of my own. Several months later found another house and appiled with Santander as they offered a better rate and was accepted.

Don't be too diasppointed I'm sure you will find another lender.

    Good luck

0404/14 - Afternoon. Call from broker, payslip has company name on the front page. Asked to scan over and that should be sufficient. Scanned over same day.
05/06/14 - Builder confirms that survey done in the morning.
06/06/14 - Online tracking indicates valuation received. Details being reviewed by underwriter. Text from Esurv with link to valuation report. Report shows satisfactory.

I now wait with baited breath. Probably won't hear till next week though.

    Update.

06/06/14 - Out of mild impatience I called the broker who confirmed that Woolwich just need to review the details so should be beginning of next week (09/06/14).

Thought would be the case so left it. Got a call at 16:55 just as I was leaving the office. MORTGAGE APPROVED AND IN THE POST!

Fianc! and I are over the moon. Had a few glasses of bubbly friday evening.
  • Haven't posted in a while -

Valuation (and survey) on the property we're buying is taking place today ..vendors still haven't found a place - feels like we won't be moving until 2015 at this rate!

Joining this thread finally, after lurking for a little while.......

    DIP (Broker) - 29th April
Offer accepted on house - 6th May
DIP (Yorkshire BS) - 20th May
Full Application submitted - 24th May
Phoned YBS to check receipt, they confirmed it might be lost - 30th May
Application confirmed found by YBS - 2nd June
Further information requested by underwriters - 3rd June

They asked if I wanted to go ahead with the valuation now (and pay for it!) or wait till the underwriters were satisfied, I have asked them to wait, would rather not pay for valuation until I know we are almost there!! Not that I am too worried, affordability is fine and OH and I have good credit records, but the house we want to buy is about 2hours from where we live now and YBS are asking questions about intent to reside and afor confirmation from both our employers about ongoing employment.

Anyways glad to be joining the support network, hopefully we will get there soon! Good luck to all!

So latest update....finally got everything sent back to YBS, the forms which they said they posted on 2nd June have still not arrived, but they have now emailed it to me. After the last "we've lost your application" debarcle, I have sent it all recorded delivery.

Fingers crossed the underwriters are happy and we can get to the valuation stage!! Solicitor is pushing for money for searches, but trying to hold him off.......

Our full application went in on Thursday 29th May through our Broker.
Requested documentation in on Friday 30th May.
Survey/Valuation booked on the 5th June.
Requested more documentation, 1 months bank statements for both of us - sent in the same day.
Bovis today said that the surveyor had no issues but waiting for Nationwide to confirm.

09/06/ - text from nationwide to say that they were happy with the valuation.

    Hi all,

Had email today from broker stating that we have our mortgage offer subjext to a valuation which will be completed in 2 to 3 days with natwest. This was after additional information was sent in last week. Im hoping valuation will be okay as new build.

Does this mean I can relax a lottle obviously as long as valuation okay. Mortgage has been through underwriting. .....

    thank u

Have been a long-time lurker on here but never posted. Up until a week ago everything had gone so smoothly that I didn't really feel the need - though I now appreciate that reading the odd nice story can help while waiting for something... anything from the banks so I apologise for my laziness!! Anyway, I'm posting now because things have livened up a bit with my favourite building society. Here's the story so far:

1/4/14: Put our house on market having already found the dream home!

12/5/14: Accept an offer on our house and go straight in for the dream and have that accepted too with an agreed move date of 26 June (we can do things fast in Scotland) - it was a good day!

13/5/14: Get straight on the phone to Nationwide to complete the full mortgage application.

14-21/5/14: Call Nationwide new business if anything funny pops up on our online case tracker thingy - this after an extremely painful experience with a small amount of additional borrowing last summer.

22/5/14: The mortgage is approved and the offer is sent out!

26/5/14: The mortgage offer arrives in the post. And I relax. :T

30/5/14: Voice message from Nationwide mortgage consultant saying to call him urgently. It turns out that there has been some kind of IT glitch on my case and they will have to re-process everything AND take another £99 booking fee to get it going again though they will refund it straight away. All of the documents will automatically transfer to the new case and it should be a formality. Stress levels begin to rise again as the memories of last year's 3.5 month adventure begin to resurface in my mind. :(

3/6/14: receive a text and email from Nationwide asking for my supporting documents but am assured that these are automatic and not to worry. I begin to worry.

4/6/14: receive a telephone call from Nationwide asking for my supporting documents. Ask the man politely to check the case notes for anything about the docs coming from a previous case. He confirms that a request was made but nothing followed up. He makes the request again.

5/6/14: the previous documents are now assigned to the case but need to go through the checking procedures again and should be checked early next week.

So here I am, three weeks before moving house and two weeks after receiving a full offer panicking that Nationwide will stay true to form and do nothing until I call them again. And even assuming I do get the offer though next week, what's to stop the same IT glitch affecting the case the day before we move and delaying the funds transfer?

I hate moving house. And although the people on the end of the telephone at Nationwide are really good - their back end systems are clearly in a right state!!

Hey folks, guess what?! ANOTHER technical error!

This time there's an "issue" with transferring the survey transcript from the previous application to the new one. Just the 48 hour wait to see if it can be resolved, which will take us to the magic 2 weeks to move date. Yippee.
