Hello All,
Frequent reader, infrequent poster.
Background: We've been viewing new builds with 100% certainty this is what we want. Having been all over the midlands looking at show homes and developments.
A development we wanted a house on isn't feasible anymore and the new build style we fell in love with has been discontinued.
We have a lot of requirements, which doesn't help sometimes.
We browse pre-owned houses daily and my partner found an interesting one...
08/04 - called agents to arrange viewing
11/04 - first viewing with attempted poker faces to hide our delight at how many boxes this pre-owned property ticked :T
13/04 - went back to vendor direct to see about a second viewing (invited us back after first viewing). He wasn't in so cheekily left a note and number. Texted to arrange second viewing.
14/04 - second viewing with parent in tow. Still loved it.
15/04 - emailed mortgage docs to 'our guy' at Yorkshire Bank and text vendor saying we were offering and called agents to formally put it in. With a bit of back and forth we got to a price but he needed time to think about it
16/04 - wanted more time :eek: however 9pm I got a text from the vendor saying he would be calling the agents in the morning to accept our offer :j:D
17/04 - mortgage telephone appointment booked in for 23/04.
Working within the property environment this is a daily experience, why is it so much more nerve racking when it's your own :rotfl:0 -
Good luck for Wednesday Marc!0

You have to wait a week to speak to someone about a mortgage?I am a Mortgage Broker

You have to wait a week to speak to someone about a mortgage?
MMR seems to have put the lender's phone lines into meltdown. For branch appointments I was quoted June with Nationwide in Edinburgh and late April with RBS. Next telephone appointment with RBS was May. I was able to get a Nationwide telephone appointment the day after I called but others calling that day were told to call back next week as they couldn't handle the number of calls.0 -
Hi all,
Been a long time lurker on this forum, has given me some great information along the way.
So I'm a FTB and went for a loyalty mortgage with my bank Barclays via a broker.
24/02 full app submitted
24/02 valuation instructed
28/02 valuation approved
17/03 mortgage offer
Between 17/03 and 02/04 solicitors dealing with a couple minor issues
15/04 exchanged contracts
17/04 funds released to our solicitor
Looking to complete on tuesday 22nd April (1st time i can not wait for a bank holiday to be over with) lol
It has been a stressful few months but we are almost there, I've been a long term customer with barclays, made sure all my bills were direct debit including the cc's so i would never miss a payment, and i guess thats they way it should be, don't borrow unless you can pay back, try not to live beyond your means.
When i was much younger i did mess up with a cc and store card but learnt my lesson. (Missed a few payments but nothing detrimental)
try not borrow unless you can pay back, it will pay off in the long run0 -
Yay for completion on Tuesday connectionsounds! And some very sound advice at the bottom of your post. I also learnt the cc lesson young, ran up a huge bill, no defaults but more by luck than judgement! I was very glad to see that balance get to 0 again.0
