Still waiting on a mortgage offer
05/10 Full application with Natwest through a broker
    27/10 Valuation done
We asked for HomeBuyer survey together with mortgage valuation so I think that is why it took so long.
29/10 our mortgage broker called Natwest to ask about offer and they said it should be issued within 48 hours though at the same time they said that payslips were not ticked, but my broker said everything is ticked in her tracker and she received an email confirmation saying “approved subject to valuation”.
No offer so far today, broker tried calling them but couldn’t get through, spent over an hour on the phone and then lines closed.
Did anyone else experienced waiting for an offer for a long time?
A bit worried now as well that my husband could be furloughed (he works in car dealership) but seems like his company is arguing with Government about that.
I’ve been told Natwest has a very high volume of cases in right now and are delayed a lot. I’m in a very similar situation to you, time-wise! Been told decision on offer by end of this week.

  • Long time lurker, first time poster here. Finally ready to add our timeline. Husband is self employed contractor, applied to Halifax via broker, using HTB.
    18/9 AIP via broker
    20/9 Reserved house.
    5/10 sent HTB app
    16/10 HTB amendments requested.
28/10 called HTB for update (4 hour call que), was told they had lost our entire application. Escalated case and got our ATP same day.
29/10 Full mortgage app submitted. Hard and soft credit checks.
    30/10 Valuation booked for 3/11.
Nerves are shot waiting for decision!

Good luck! Are you still inside the deadline your builder gave you to exchange? Are you getting any pressure from them to meet that date? We received ATP on 23/10 but are still waiting on a mortgage decision after the application went in with Santander on 15/10. Searches are due back on 9/11. According to the builder we should be exchanging tomorrow, but that’s not going to happen.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by :)

Luckily the builder has actually been great so far. They set the exchange date just as 'November/December', as they know everything is very delayed at the moment. They just said as long as we are keeping them up to date with each step they are happy for the time being.. We recieved our searches yesterday.
Are your builders happy to move the date? It's incredibly stressful, I hope it works out for you!

We haven’t received any pressure from the builder so far, apart from their website that keeps reminding us when we need to exchange by :) We are keeping them up to date on everything that we are doing, and they’ve even done some chasing of their own!
  • Hi. So I am a first time poster!
Currently and anxiously waiting on a mortgage approval from Natwest. Originally was told by MB would take about 2 weeks but then I thought with the volume of mortgages and survey requests at the moment it would take longer.
Currently on week 3 as of today! Application went through on the 7th October for a Single mortgage application, we are married.
Natwest wanted an extra 5k deposit  that originally stated in AIP which wasnt an issue.
    So far dates are
    7th Oct- Mortgage app submitted
12th Oct- valuation instructed (new build)
    21st Oct- payslips ticked
Emailed advisor to ask how long it will take for the approval, with a reply to say that the application process is going well.

And now I wait for next update. Its killing me!  :D
    Update
After an email asking for an update. We have been told the only thing left outstanding is the valuation. They have left a number of messages since instructing for the valuation to be done 2 weeks ago. Impressed with how quick the follow up on queries is going.
I'm hoping to know final decision next week!
    Update:
Having issues with our site foreman, broker and surveyor company cant get in touch to organise an on site valuation. I assumed it would have been a desktop valuation as it's a new build. The house structure is built but wont be ready until March. This is the only thing holding up our mortgage approval at the moment. How hard is it to answer a voicemail or even call back. Bloody foreman!
  • For those who got a mortgage valuation done. Do you get to see the result?
  • Received the offer today from Natwest.
Called them this morning asking for updates and they said it should arrive by end of day tomorrow but couple hours after the call I got the email with an offer. Yey!
Now a bit concerning... My husband will be furloughed for 2 weeks, our broker said we need to send the letter confirming furlough to Natwest with explanation and our offer could be put on hold, hey ho... Still trying to stay positive..

    Nile_E_Coyote,
Our lender did send us the mortgage valuation papers along with the offer.

Update- we had our valuation today and our broker called us this eve with our mortgage offer!
In total it's been 4 working days from full application to offer with Halifax via broker. Definitely wasn't expecting such speedy process. Good luck to everyone on this rollercoaster!
