Not sure if this  has already been covered, but we are currently selling a property and are being told that the buyers are waiting on the underwriters and being told it is delayed to 12 - 16 weeks due to covid 19 is this true do you think or do you think we are being given the run around?

I think it will depend on the lender. I’ve had a 5 week wait with Barclays and have heard of others who are on their 7th/8th week. I think some lenders outsource their underwriting team so I suppose it depends on the current situation/climate in those countries. Everything seems delayed at the moment, even getting a valuation booked was a struggle!

  • Hi. So I am a first time poster!
Currently and anxiously waiting on a mortgage approval from Natwest. Originally was told by MB would take about 2 weeks but then I thought with the volume of mortgages and survey requests at the moment it would take longer.
Currently on week 3 as of today! Application went through on the 7th October for a Single mortgage application, we are married.
Natwest wanted an extra 5k deposit  that originally stated in AIP which wasnt an issue.
    So far dates are
    7th Oct- Mortgage app submitted
12th Oct- valuation instructed (new build)
    21st Oct- payslips ticked
Emailed advisor to ask how long it will take for the approval, with a reply to say that the application process is going well.

And now I wait for next update. Its killing me!  :D
    Update
After an email asking for an update. We have been told the only thing left outstanding is the valuation. They have left a number of messages since instructing for the valuation to be done 2 weeks ago. Impressed with how quick the follow up on queries is going.
I'm hoping to know final decision next week!

16/10 - money for valuation taken
27/10 - further info required re deposit and provided
30/10 - email confirmation that the mortgage is approved subject to valuation which is due to be completed on 12/11

Fingers crossed nothing comes up during the valuation process!

  • Applied on the 10th. Documents sent a week later.

Rbs tracker has marked then all as ticks 'this action is complete'. Not sure if this means theyre acceptable or whether we will receive questions on then later.

The bottom says we have instructed a valuation report and will await survey results.

    Waiting game.
Got my approval subject to valuation today.
