Hi all, joining the thread. Waiting on. Woolwich application through a broker although our current mortgage is through them too. We are applying for a 50% LTV mortgage.

    4 September - offer accepted
23rd September - full application submitted. Took a couple of weeks to gather all the documents the broker requested as we are both self employed.
23rd September - desktop valuation completed on application.
28th September - further documents requested, business bank account statements.
30th September - further info sent.
    Now waiting.

Finally got my mortgage offer today!!!! Woooo! Full application went in 07/08, so it’s been a long hard slog. I went with a smaller building society (Melton Mowbray) and fair play, they were actually really good, it was a problem with solicitors that held it up. Felt so nice to finally hold the offer in my hands because I didn’t think I’d get here! Fingers crossed that next week my solicitors are happy to discuss completion because pretty much everything else is sorted out. Hope you all have good news next week!
  • Looking for some direction. MA contacted today, nationwide has asked again about source of deposit. They asked a few weeks ago, and it was explained, partner transfers half of wages to me to save, initially he would give me cash sums, which for all intense and purpose I stuffed under the mattress 🤦 then covid happened so he started transfering it over direct to my account. any way when house was found and mortgage application made I transferred what was in my account  back to him and went in and deposited the cash into his account. Well weeks later they have said they are not happy with were the deposit has come from and asked again, well the answer doesn't change because it's the truth SAVINGS. He is applying for the mortgage on his own, MA has said we will get a yes or no by Monday , but in the mean time can apply with a different lender at Futher £200 cost. I'm so over this house buying thing now, this seems so stupid. I have no idea what to do for the best

Just got an offer issued today 1 working day after my (2nd) application after deciding to switch lenders! FTB 84% LTV.

    • Wed 30 Sept: Rang Dankse Bank - advisor arranged a phone call meeting with a consultant to go through application on Fri 2 Oct. Uploaded documents to their online portal that evening.
    • Friday 2 Oct: went through full application with the consultant, who went through my spending, affordability etc there and then on the phone.
    • Monday 5 Oct: phone call confirming offer issued subject to valuation. They told me on the phone that the application was actually approved on Friday but it was that late in the evening she just rang me on Monday instead!

Very happy with this as had been waiting 7+ weeks with Nationwide who had requested more documents. Now have an offer (at a better rate) within a few days of submitting an application. Would advise trying Danske to anyone in NI.

Oh no! What a nightmare! I’m sorry this is taking so long for you!
I’m sorry this may not sound very helpful, but if you imagine yourself in the banks shoes I see two “problems” here.
Firstly; they can’t prove categorically that This money was being kept “under the mattress” and not proceeds from crime or other means. I appreciate this is highly unlikely to be the case: but if it was found so after you had a mortgage offer the bank would be in a lot of trouble.

Second problem, is that if your partner is sending you money to put away in savings does this mean that he cannot restrain his spending so he has to give someone else his money to remove temptation? As you aren’t working this would indicate a serious risk to them.

I appreciate you’re both probably financially stable but from the banks perspective it doesn’t look great. Once the money is in his account for 3 months however there will be no questions, so it might be a case of waiting a few months if that’s an option. It’s frustrating right?!
