  • @somerlouise I'm an EU citizen and I get paid in foreign currency, and we got our mortgage from HSBC. Took around five weeks but we got there in the end.
That’s really good to know- our broker said HSBC was his recommendation as they are ‘used’ to dealing with cases like ours.

  • Hello all!!!
I am somewhat nervous, sick to my stomach, and a little excited to be joining this thread again. I had a house purchase fall through back in March, which was a massive downer for me. I am so determined to get onto the property ladder though. Neither of my real parents own their own home, and neither do any of my siblings, so it really will feel like a first!
    House viewed -24/09
    DIP - 25/09
    Offer placed - 29/09
    Offer verbally accepted - 29/09
As soon as my solicitor sends me the go ahead, we start the mortgage process proper. I have given my mortgage advisor all the info she needs, and the house is 20k cheaper than the last - and i'm putting 10% more deposit down. Very anxious, I haven't even told my partner I've got to this stage yet after how much stress I put him through last time!!! I think I'll avoid telling him until I have an offer on the table, if we get that far.
  • Hi all,
    Here is our timeline:
19/9 - We accepted an offer on our house, and had our offer accepted on the house we'd like to purchase
21/9 - Full mortgage application made with Halifax. Valuation paid for also
26/9 - Valuation complete and Mortgage offer sent
30/9 - Still waiting for offer to come through, but our buyers surveyors are viewing our property on 2/10

So far so good, cant believe how quickly the mortgage has gone through. nervous now on tour buyers valuation/survey on Friday. Hopefully this comes back ok.

According to MA, Halifax have accepted all paperwork and are happy but can’t make formal offer as they’re still waiting for a date for valuation... Anyone else heard of this before?

How long is the wait for valuations at the moment? It seems as though they’re seriously delayed! Purchasing in North London.

    Hi
have you got the mortgage approved  at the end? Same situation here...

Our Halifax application was submitted on 16/07. Recieved word that it's now with the underwriter who is querying what seem to be a couple of minor details. Does anyone know at what stage the underwriters come in? Is this post-credit check and pre-valuation?
Same here...have you been approved? What was the timeline?

Wow in just 5 days! My app with underwrites for 2 weeks now...
  • Does anybody else get really anxious when you’re approaching the end of the day, and you were told you’d hear something but you haven’t?

First we were told we’d hear Thursday, then Friday and then today... but still no closer other than knowing the lender has the valuation survey and is making their last minute checks 🤷‍♂️
We were fully credit checked 3 weeks ago, initial underwriter approval 2 weeks ago,  valuation was a week ago, not sure my nerves can hold out much longer 😔
    Yes me too...
