How is your pet coping with the lovely weather

We're dogsitting at the moment and he's finding this warm weather tiring. He's used to going out for walks in the afternoons but doesn't want to in this heat. He sleeps in front of the fan when it's on. One day he'll barely eat anything, the next he will, hard to judge feeding him oh and he was sick yesterday too

The cats are mostly hiding in the shade. Kitten is only allowed out on a harness so he's enjoying us sitting out til late in the evenings. Blackie is enjoying sunbathing as much as he can though.
None of them are sleeping on the bed with us as it's too warm

Our cats are happily lying around sun bathing. I think they're less active but it's hard to tell! The bunny is fine but I'm checking on her a lot because I always worry about flystrike at this time of year. Our two elderly rats have taken to lying around their cage passed out and freaking me out! They have a fan on them all the time though and they perk up when we give them a bowl of cold water with frozen peas to fish for!0

My mog is all spread out under the kitchen table, when he's fed up there he moves to the hallway (very cool there).
This summer, he's taken to drinking from the kitchen tap - for the first time in 16 years! He jumps up next to the sink everytime you go to wash something up :rotfl:
He's black, and quite large as well, so I do feel sorry for him!0 -
Cat is flobbed out on the floor where there is a draft.
He goes out about 10pm and wanders back in at 5am! demanding food, then sleeps from 9am

My lovely dear old rosie cat is really suffering, she has lost her appetite and is losing weight, she is moulting heavily and just lays full stretch where she stops.
I am slightly worried this heat may be the death of her.
She's also not very happy about being confined to the back garden, she has always been a roamer, but I am worried that her lethargy will make her slow to react on the road, so she has taken to yowling very loudly at the window!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Poor hotdog is boiling! Luckily the back of the house is shaded but it is a bit stuffy. I have been magi cool when I can on him. It says safe for pets. I worry that he doesn't drink enough. There are 3 bowls but he hardly touches them.0

My pooch doesn't know what to do with himself. With him having a lot of loose skin and heavy set (he's a Basset) he's just mooching about. I've let him have a little sunbathe, but I keep making him come back in as his head get hot quick. I've had the fan on for him, and he loves Tesco ice-lollies atm, good value at 67p for 8.;)
We haven't been taking him for a walk either, just been kicking his football about around 9pm, and he still can't be bothered. We do all the running and he lays on the grass and yawns
I'm amazed at how many people have been taking their dogs for a walk when it's at the hottest time. some of the poor things have really struggled.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

My hound hates this heat (well groomed mini schnauzer). Mrs Ohreally took him a walk earlier, he lay down and refused to co-operate, had to return in a taxi!Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

When I first got my dog I would walk him as soon as I got in at 5pm. This is so ingrained that even in this heat he wants to o and won't rest until we have gone out on even a very short walk. On we'd I worked from home. He didn't move all day until 5pm when he popped his head round Ye door to tell me it was time for Walkies!0

I put my rats in the bath today, with just a small amount of water in the tap end, they loved it. The bath is enamel and the bathroom is one of the coolest rooms in the house anyway, it's the most active they have been in the daytime ever since the hot weather started. The only problem is that one of them got a bit over excited, bumped his nose and gave himself a bit of a nosebleed. He's fine now but it gave me a bit of a scare for a while. They are both only young (3 months) so prone to do daft things. It was no more than a smudge but I'll be keeping a close eye on him for the next couple of days.0
