I like these names, I have 1 daughter named Cara so holding out for no2 when I meet a man lol

Adam, just think it's simple, classic and not to hard for the child to learn to spell

Niall, same really easy to spell and it can only be spelt one way

Cillian, ok so I'm going through family names I like here but it's a nice sound to it

Lorcan, A friend recently called her son this, I loved it

Luke, for the same reason as the first one

Max, my personal favourite, because of the gladiator!

I choose my daughters name simply as it began with the same initial as mine, we would have the same intials, and I didnt want anything that could be shortened to a nickname, so I understand your indecision

I haven't read all the posts on this thread, so I might be repeating what someone has said.................but when you make your choice, check what his initials/full name will be or sound like.;)

For example, if your surname is Carter and you chose William for his first name...........he'll have WC as his initials.:o

Another example, if your surname is Green and you chose Peter for his first name.........he'll be known as Pea Green (P Green).:o

We couldn't agree on the first few names but this was largely due to my struggling to come to terms with having a boy - I was so sure...

After the sexing scan at 16wks we told everyone we were calling our son a regular name but I didn't really like it. So I made up my own! And it isn't a silly sounding name or anything like that, it sounds lovely and is an adaptation of a English-Italian name. I love it that there's only one of him in the whole wide world whilst not sticking out like a sore thumb.

BTW this name came to me like a bolt out of the blue, like I just knew that was what I had to call my son. So don't give up hope just yet that the problem won't resolve itself. And if D-Day comes and you're not sure then have a shortlist that you've both contributed to and wait and see how your feelings change after the birth.

I used to look at my son as a newborn and think he looked like a "Joe" but would never have called him that LOL. Nothing wrong with the name, just a bit "average" (get it?). But he would have been alright as a Joe nevertheless so if all else had failed, I might well have gone with that and be happy with my choice. Your child will grow into whatever name you choose in the end and it'll become second nature to call them by it.

That said, mine answers to "Squeaks" and "Pudding Dumpling" (and sometimes "Oy, Ratbag").

My son is named James Robert Wilson. He was going to be Robert James, Robert because there were none in our family, and James after my Dad, but two days before he was born I had a dream that an angel had appeared with a baby, and said to me, "This is your son, James Robert" so when I woke up I told my DH and that's what it became! His third name "Wilson" was after his great-grandpa Every boy in the family had it as a third name, but my grandpa didn't have any sons or grandsons. My sister had the first boy in ages, and she called him Richard after him. I decided on the third one because my grandma was dying of cancer when my son was born, and it pleased her to think the name would carry on.
I agree with the registering tho! My DH when to register my son, and the Registrar thought "Wilson" was part of his surname, and hyphenated it with our surname, so it said "Wilson-Deadman"! :rotfl:
Good job my DH saw it on the screen before it was printed!

Being practical and moneysaving, if you give your children the same initials, you'll save a fortune on name tags!

    Ok you offended me!

My little girls name is Eden Jasmine, she starts school in september:(

and im sure she is lovely,
but if your seriously offended by a complete stranger mentioning they dont like your choice of name (before you had even posted) then maybe you need to get a thicker skin!
as i said in my original post, im VERY picky with names, and as its one of the most important decisions I as a parent will ever make, i think i have every right to be.

one of the things thats been quite important to me about naming my children is thinking past the next few years, for instance... Tilly might be a lovely name for a little girl in bunches toddling about,
but there isnt going to be a prime minister with a name like that... but if you named them Natalie then you still get the cute nick name but she gets taken seriously when choosing a career.
