We still can't decide. We have both come up with our own short list but cannot agree on a name.. We are now calling my son each name for a few day to help decide. http://www.babynamesworld.com looks like a great websight.

Are they web sights that allow you to see names of birds, trees and plants. Were looking to use a name from this section. Also names that sound Roman or Greek also appeal. It is sooooooooooooooo hard because once you have decided then that is their name for ever.

Just as a little aside, DD2(10) and I were talking in the car on the way to school yesterday morning.

"What's the new girl in your class called then?" I asked

"Ahduno" came the reply from the back seat.

"Oooo - that's unusual. Where's she from then?" said I.

    "What?"

    *Tuts at DD2's simpleness* "Ahduno - is - an - unusual - name. Is - her - family - from - abroad - then ?"

"No Mum. I dunno her name." :o

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

We had the same thing at school. We watched a video, and were asked questions after. Teacher says - "why does the young lady call the man Adonis?" My mate; "Cos she's thinking "Ah dunno 'is name""

On the topic of using the same initials, we unintentionally have 2XF's and 2XL's and an A!!!
    The 2 L's are a boy and a girl.
Yesterday I got a new prescription for girl L when I collected it the pharmacist had printed the info and instructions and labels out for boy L.
OH came home and asked what meds boy L was on....
I think that is a pretty bad slip.

Don't want to offend anyone but I really don't like the custom of giving children surnames as first names (Harrison, Taylor, McKenzie, etc). To me they are not 'real' names, so why do it when they are so many lovely names out there?
I think it's probably that they are a recent generation of 'new' names and you're not used to them. Graham,. Gregory & Scott are also surnames given as first names but I doubt anyone ever thinks the same way about them.

My Dad was in the Navy with a chap called 'Junior'. His parents named him that so he could choose his own name when he was old enough. When the time came and they asked him what name he liked he said, 'well, Junior as thats what I've always been called!'.

Also, when my sister was born my Mum named her Clare in the hospital but as soon as my Dad heard this he said 'no way, I don't like that name!'. Its now her middle name. I often say to my Mum, now I'm pregnant myself, how on earth did you not discuss such things beforehand lol.

I'm sure whatever you decide, your baby will suit his name and after a few months you will not be able to imagine him called anything else.

    Good luck!

We had Elliot chosen as a boys name for our 2nd baby. We had had Ellie chosen for a girl with our first, not used cos we had a son and then my neighbours got a dog and called it Ellie which I felt sort of ruled out us using it. So I knew we both liked this particular sound.
Just before I was taken to theater to have a c-section. DH asked me "are you sure about elliot" I just had time to answer yes before I was taken away for a GA. When I came round I asked him why he'd asked, cos he'd gone off it was the answer. I couldn't believe he hadn't fetched the subject up beforehand  . Just as well we had a girl :D

I must admit I do find the concept of not having a name for a baby before it's born slightly strange. After I had my children I was off with the pixies with tiredness so they could have ended up as anything had i not decided before.

I When i was pregnant with my daughter i chose Toby after Toby Maguire I know I know but he really floats my boat in a geeky nerdy kinda way, Hubs says he was glad we had a girl. HTH Sharon

How freaky is that!! My Toby was named after young Mr Mcguire after we watched the first Spiderman film!!! All through the pregnancy he was 'toby', but is offically a Tobias...Tobias Robert John ....which is weird when you are sat in the doctors and they call for 'Tobias Thompson' and we're sat round wondering who they mean...

When I decided baby 4 was going to be an Ethan , my bump was called it all the way through, untill a few weeks before I decided I really liked 'Theo' - sadly OH didn't like it, we even flirted with Thorin or Torin for a while, but went back to Ethan James.

My eldest Harriet was named after the character in Jane Austen's 'Emma', and DD2 should have been an Isabella, but Harriet decide she liked 'Hannah'...so Hannah Isabelle it was.

If I had another I love Max, Felix or George for a boy, and Hermione, Grace, Pheobe or Cecily for a girl...not allowed anymore though.....:(
