Those who are waiting to TTC (New Thread)

  • Hello all,

Hope everyone had a nice weekend? Things are a bit quiet on the thread of late, I suppose when you're not actively ttc other things do take a front seat in your attention.

Well I'm STILL waiting for my test results from the colposcopy biopsy I had, part of me is still so unnerved and a bit of me thinks well it can't be so bad or I'd know by now. Might give the clinic another call again this week to ask if they have any info for me yet.

Thanks to afahm, its touching to have others sending on their best wishes on the test results front, PMA and all that.

As for the official waiting front, tomorrow is October, which means in less than 24 hours I'll be able to say that next month is the last month before we start trying. That sounds so close and so exciting. I reminded DH of this fact this morning and he looked a little bemused and laughed at the same time- (my predicted ov date in December is 22nd - although granted that may well change) and he just said to me, "yes I know, 22nd December, I haven't forgotten" :D with a little grin on his face.

DH assures me he is ready but I think for men they don't spend nearly as much time as we do thinking/talking/researching ttc stuff as we do so they don't really know what to expect from this at all. At the risk of asking for tmi, has anyone thought about how it'll actually will be when you start? I can't help thinking the first time might need a glass of wine or 2 involved to help relax us a bit knowing that we'll be dtd for a reason rather than for the love of it. I'm actually convinced it'll take us a while to conceive, but even so I'm tempted to make a night of it, go for a nice meal, make it a bit romantic... is that completely sappy?

  • OMG, not even got as far as thinking about what the "official" ttc day will be like - I'm sure I'll have to tell OH that we're ntnp rather than ttc to take the pressure off.

I need to book appointment for a new supply of pills this month - feeling ill with excitement just thinking this might be my last 12 months on them. Don't want to jinx things with finishing the house and selling up so I won't be getting a shorter supply much as I'd love to come off earlier and give myself time to get back to a normal cycle. One step at a time.

  • Thanks for the reassurance ILLT and afoolandhermoney :)

I'm so sorry you haven't got your results yet ILLT I'm sure this means that there's nothing series wrong though. If there was they would never keep you waiting like this. I hope they sort themselves out and let you know real soon.

Thanks for the offer of sharing charts. Are you on FF? I'm not sure how I link to my charts.. :o

  • Hi all, in planning for TTC next month I've come off the pill this month and not feeling great with a dull tummy ache and bloated - hope this is normal and a sign my bodies trying to get back to its cycle!

    Excited about starting soon!
  • Hello and welcome MrsMills1985, what is your wttc story?

It's been a good few years since I was last on the pill, but from what I recall your body will be rejigging things so that things go back to normal and for me that did include what felt like a month of PMT and mega bloat. Ride it out, you'll soon find your own normal.

With the same sort of excitement a 5 year old gives when they exclaim that there is only X amount of sleeps until Xmas, I'm giddy at the though of someone asking me when I'm going to start ttc, now I can say next month is the last month before we try. That's only 2 more cycles! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Exciting :j:j times :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
This board seems so positive right now :) It's lovely to see.

ilovelondontown, really try to relax, as other people have said, they wouldn't keep you waiting this long if something serious was going on. Try to focus on your extremely close TTC date.

Good news on our front, we've put an offer on a house, and owning our own home is one of the things we wanted to before getting pregnant. Things are moving forward!
There is hope for us yet

Ahh it is nice to see excitement ilovelondontown :D

Well we went ahead and booked a holiday to the US in April. I asked on the pregnancy threads for people's advice and everyone said book it. I am convinced that if we start TTC in January, I won't be pregnant by April anyway, and if I'm not, we'll just take a couple of weeks off TTC so I can enjoy wine etc on holiday (:D) then get back to it when we get back.

My husband however was rather affronted when I said this to him - he thinks me saying that we won't be pregnant immediately is a slight on his manhood :rotfl:

I think it is a bit of self protection in a way as well, because if we're not pregnant in the first few months (which I'm sure we won't be) I can comfort myself by saying 'well at least I won't be pregnant and sick and unable to drink on holiday'.

So I have been off the pill for just over 4 weeks now. Not sure how long it takes to get out of your system but I have definitely noticed my skin getting worse :( (I was on a pill that specifically treated acne) and my hair getting greasier. Other than that though I have not had any 'symptoms', which I am glad about because I had been on the pill for so long I was scared my body would explode or something!

Been tracking things on Fertility Friend and no sign that I have ovulated, though. I hope I get a natural period soon and things start to get into a proper cycle otherwise TTC in January will be a bit optimistic! I bit the bullet and signed up to a year's subscription with Fertility Friend. If I am pregnant before a year is up, the subscription changes to a pregnancy tracker, so it is win win.

ilovelondontown on your idea of making the first 'TTC' sex 'special', I do know what you mean a bit,but personally I would be worried about putting so much pressure on it! I think we like sex to happen naturally so it would feel very odd to have an evening of forced 'romance' planned, all leading to definite sex. Sorry if that sounds harsh - everyone is different so do whatever works for you!
  • Sethisis- Thanks I know, and your right, I just need to get this confirmation now so I stop looking like a crazy lady to the poor mail man! That is AWESOME news on the house front, congrats! When will you know more?

Daisiegg - I actually agree with your thoughts on the first ttc session being made to feel pressured, but I don't suppose I mean it in that sense, but more to make a night of it to mark the occassion of a new stage in our lives. I wouldn't even dream of being that lucky to get PG on the first time, I totally believe it's going to take months, years even!

Your holiday plans sound AMAZING! Either it'll be a full on holiday, drinks aplenty or it'll be a last horrah and a babymoon, brilliant. I lol at your husbands comment about being hurt that you assumed you might not be pg by then, mine is the same, he's convinced he's got supersperm, I actually have to try and throw some facts and figures at him to help him get a reality check! Where abouts will you be going in the US?

Thanks for asking; there is little I like talking about more than holidays :rotfl: Flying into Boston, staying round there for a week. Probably three days in actual Boston and four somewhere else; maybe north, as we have been south. Then flying down to Florida (Naples area) for some sun for four nights, then NYC for three nights, then home. Should be great, but I am almost hoping I am not pg by then cos all that travelling wouldn't be fun with morning sickness!

I may have mentioned this before but my husband has no idea how difficult it can be to get pregnant. He has an almost grown up child who was born when he was early twenties and trying very hard NOT to conceive, so I think he thinks he has super sperm and if it was so easy to get pg whilst using contraception, he will only have to glance in my direction for me to get sprogged up once there is no contraception involved! :rotfl: I keep trying to tell him that was a lifetime ago and he has drunk a lot of booze since then :o so who knows what will happen when we try!

I was clearing out some drawers earlier and found a tiny baby gro that I bought for my cousin's baby, but then ended up giving her something different. It is gender neutral so I kept hold of it ready for the next person to have a baby....weird but exciting to think that that person *could* be me! it is very cute and I don't really know what to do with it. It feels like bad luck to have something that might be for our one-day baby, so I might need to start a present drawer and keep telling myself it is for the next friend or relative to have a baby! It is sooooooooo cute and tiny and soft though!

Hi everyone! So happy to see so much activity on here and everyone feeling positive :)

I'm especially glad you're so chirpy ILLT, being like a kid at Xmas is an entirely appropriate way for a 29 yr old to behave IMO!

Congrats in the houseSethisis that's such a big exciting step. We're hoping to buy our first home in the next few months so I'll tap you up for tips! ;)

daisiegg that's a great attitude to have towards TTC, it can be so hard to let your expectations run away with you. I don't know how I'm gonna keep my feet on the ground and your holiday sounds A-mazing! I'm super jealous :D

AFM, OH three me a curve ball last night. I'd spoken to him this week about my whacky charts and my worries about my *ahem* advancing years. He didn't say much but he must have taken it on board cause he said he didn't want to wait any more and he's super keen to TTC before it's too late. So I guess I'll be heading off over to TTC a couple of months early. Scared!

I just want to say a massive thanks to all you lovelies who've made this such a wonderful and supportive board, especially ILLT I hope to see you on the other board in a few weeks. Eeeeek!

    Love to all
