    Hi all

Please can I join you ???

I think I need some motivation to follow the old style living that me and DH want to do. Its nice to have some people to chat too as well.

Not a lot planned for today - keeping the kids entertained as they are not in shool until Monday

We have been for a walk to the veg shop though and for a nice stroll around our local church. Also been on-line and started pricing up a short trip to Euro Disney - we will really need to live old style for that !!

We also need to go up to our allotment tonight just to check on the plants and veg. We have loads growing - in the next few weeks we should have another load of Rhubarb, some more peas, Black Currents, White Currents, Red Currents and Onions. Also growing for a few months time we have Sprouts, Cabbage, Potatos, Broccoli, Raspberrys, Strawberries, Blackberrys and Carrots. We have also managed a small herb garden :T Hopefully we will have a nice full freezer for Christmas time and then I won't have to go mad buying all our fresh veg - therefore saving more money.

There are also 3 massive Elderberry trees in the allotment and I would be much obliged if someone could let me have some ideas for what I can do with these !!!

Anyway - hope you all don't mind me joining you !!! ;)

    T xx

    Your allotment sounds great.

You can make Elderberry and Elderflower wines, and Elderflower cordial. (Soz, no recipes, but I'm sure someone will have some somewhere.)

mmmm sounds yummy (and healthy for the kids) if anyone hs any recipies I would be much obliged !!!

Yes the allotment is great - we have had it for about 10 weeks and the guy that left it had left some bits growing too hence all the Black Currents and also some Spring Onions we found a few weeks back.

If the truth be told it is probably too big for me and DH to manage but we are going to make a really good go of it !!!

Welcome to the boards Spooky Pooky  (great name btw!!:rotfl: )

I actually go by Pooky all the time - even on my business cards - but couldn't be Pooky on here as someone had already stolen it (and now I know who!!) but Spooky Pooky's a good compromise as I was a Halloween baby.

how did everyone else decide their names? there are some pretty amusing ones around!

I am actually a Natasha but no matter where I go that name is always taken so I stick a J in it and I become Tashja !!!

It sticks too - loads of friends and family now spell it Tashja !!!

Crazychick - Glad you found the money - just been re-reading the thread :)

If you Google elderberry wine there are some recipes, but as someone says,

"DO NOT use the leaves, bark or roots of Elder for consumtion
    They can be poisonous!!! "

Thats the first page I clicked on :rotfl:

They have some great ideas on there - love the idea of the Elderflower Champagne !!!! Just need to have a look and see what equipment I will need now - though I am guessing a clean bucket will do !!!

i have also been struggling for ideas on what to enter in to the village Horticulteral Show in September but think I will try this Champagne and also some Jams !!!!

DH is laughing at me because I am only 26 and I want to keep up with all the other allotment holders who are a lot older then me !!! :o
