My compensation has arrived in my bank account today. Very happy with the service and and the result. I received £434 in total from a claim for €800, so I have effectively got 2/3 of the compensation with non of the hassle, which I consider acceptable, and I hope someone will find this info useful in making their own decision on how to proceed.

And thanks to MSE community for the information and tools that I needed to proceed with my claim.

I have also used Bott & Co to deal with a claim against United, which they have just paid. I started by sending a letter to United myself, but United rejected my claim. I then worked out from previous threads that United would make me go as far as submitting court documents, so I decided the cost of using Bott & Co was worth it for the cost of creating and submitting court documents and dealing with the stress of possible court action. So Bott & Co took over the action from me, and while it took a few months I now have the money in my bank account and am very happy.

i've just had an update from Bott and co who say my case is one of 13000 that is dependent on any appeal process granted to jet2. However according to Martin lewis on radio last week if like mine your flight delay was caused by a problem with an earlier flight not the one you caught they have to pay out now, anyone know which is the case?

The airline should pay now however it appears all airlines are tending to hide behind the Jet2 possible appeal and judges are allowing cases to be stayed so there is little or nothing either you or Bott & Co. can really do to hurry your case along.
  • Hi all,

Today I received the e-mail from Bott & Co to finally sign their Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA).

I am still debating whether to leave the case in their hands or not. Even though most posts are about whether it is worth accepting their conditions if THEY WIN, I think the crucial question here is, rather, what happens if THEY LOSE the case and we have to pay for the other side's costs???

This is the only risk involved I see: not winning and having to pay on top of that...

As per point 2 of the CFA:

"What do I pay if I lose?
If you lose you pay your opponents charges and disbursements. You may be able to take out an insurance policy against this risk. If you lose you do not pay our charges but may be required to pay our disbursements".

Now, the question really is: is it worth going this route if the possibility exists of having to disburse money in net?...

Any advice is welcome! Thank you!

Read through the various threads and see for yourself if you think you have a valid and sensible claim - if so email Botts with your concerns and glean their response. Then decide to either walk away or use a NWNF - I think you will find all the firms operating this service have similar terms and conditions.

my concern was the same as yours - that's how this thread was started (by me). Look at 5th post. I signed with Bott and glad I did but email them asking for reassurance if you're worried.

Thanks. I expressed my concerns in the event of not winning the case and am waiting for an answer now before I sing the CFL.

    Hi folks,
Just to say I have posted elsewhere about my potential for a claim against United airlines following a delayed flight from Manchester to New York last June which ended up as being over 12 hours :(
We had the meal ticket and were even bussed of airport to a hotel.
I was also given some air miles by United as a make weight for the delay but not my wife.I did tend to feel a little guilty :embarasse about claiming but then realised the air miles are pretty much useless and will run out in a few months anyway and when I see that delays of this length are supported
legally as a right I plucked up courage not to do it on my own:rotfl:
I have taken up issue via Bott and Co and have just signed the retainer following advice here and from Bott and others ;)(which appears positive).
I hope I can add a success story to the earlier ones albeit its early days.
