  • Loady,

You got a mail from them stating they will give a FULL REFUND!!!???

That's enough to start with which is more than what most got initially.

A couple of e-mails a day from you to them requesting the date that they intend to make the deposit into your account should suffice in the interim. Keep them on their toes and hopefully it's an experience you can put behind you.

Keep us in the loop and let us know how you get on.
  • Hi everyone, I'm a newbie and I felt compelled to post about this....
ok so today I was scammed by this website made up to look exactly like the DVLA website.... £60 to send a printed form out so I could then pay £20 for a renewed license. My own fault, didn't read the small print, but, I despise these thieving robbing bxxxxxxxs, so here's how the emails in response to the scam went....

    [ME] Enquiry:
It's the week before christmas. My son is now minus Lego Star Wars Jabbas palace thanks to this website. It's obviously phishing because you've designed it exactly like the DVLA website. £60 for a renewal form filled in? I would like a refund and cancel this please.

    [THEM]:
We are a 3rd party acting agent for which as explained on the website we charge a processing fee , because this application has already been processed we cannot cancel this order , but we are prepared to refund our service fee less £8 administration costs , Please be so kind to reply to this email with sort code & account number and order ID , if you prefer to be refunded Via Pay Pal or Cheque please advise Paypal or address details.
    Best Regards
    Peter

    [ME]

    Dear Peter

I imagine this would be a good service for someone severely disabled or very ill should they not be able to fill in the simple forms online.
So you are refunding £52 to my account? Paypal would be fine at XXXXXXXXXXX asap, so I can buy my son his present.
Well done for being the first website to ever extort money out of me have a good Christmas.

    (NO RESPONSE or REFUND)

    Hi Peter,
    Are you on lunch?
Did you get an ETA on the arrival of my refund, I’m concerned now as I fear Solo will never be free from the Carbonite without this money.

    (STILL NOWT)

    Dear Peter,
    Any news?

    (SILENCE)

    Dear Peter,

Have you refunded the money yet. If so I’d be very grateful.

    (.....)

    Hi Peter,

I’m concerned you have not replied to my friendly emails. I cannot afford to lose £52 as I am not a wealthy man. I don’t even own a car. I only renewed my driving license because I had too. I’ve paid on the legit site also, that was only £20 and took less than 5 minutes, I imagine this would be difficult for the elderly, especially if it was cold through not being able to afford their energy bills, or perhaps limbless folk. Actually, I don't know if limbless folk would be allowed to drive? hmmm what do you think Peter?

    (....)

    Peter?......Peter.....? are you there Peter?....

    (....)

Peter, it's been a while, I'm genuinely concerned for your safety. If you are in trouble or being held captive simply send me a message saying something like "I'm going to be late, can you take Noodles out for a walk". That way your captivators will not suspect you've notified me of your kidnap and I can inform the Police

[Them] - Sorry, we are unable to process your application on-line.
Please supply sort code & account number and we will refund all fees already submitted.
You will need to pick up a form from the Post Office and manually fill in the details. Peter is fine, please do not email again.

[Me with refund] - How do I know you aren't his captivators?

And THAT is how to get a FULL refund from a scam website :-)

    OMG soooooo funny!!! :T
  • I also used dvla-licence-application.co.uk today in a rush to get things sorted. It cost me £40 and I can't believe after years of being so careful it finally happened to me. They have all my details and I really don't know what to do. I sent confirmation on their website that I wanted to cancel and have not heard anything to date.

I am writing this post not moaning about money as it's my own stupid fault and yes I could do with getting it back as am still paying for christmas but my main worry is the following:

1). They have all my personal details what can I do? I have asked advice from bank and dvla and their hands are tied.

2). Who do I contact then? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

3). This point is very IMPORTANT. If they already have so much information about me why do they want my bank account details too???? Can they not just refund my card I used initially?

I know everybody it's a lot of money for us all to lose but do you think we should be giving any more information to them.

Just my opinion and if anyone has any advice on my point 2 I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Same predicament here too - my husband has applied for an address change, been charged £40. They emailed today asking to clarify something as their was a query, he called DVLA to go through the details and they explained the "scam" company.

Ok, lesson learned with the charge but he (and i) are fretting because of the amount of information this company now has. A stern email (involving their immediate deletion of all his details) has been sent and advising that we will be pursuing this with DVLA/Trading Standards and a legal team.

Don't where to go with it now

I thought you said you were going to DVLA, TS and a "legal team"?

Or were they just idle threats?

We fell for the same thing. My bf paid £60 Sunday 23rd Jan, I emailed the next day requesting a refund, just keep emailing asking for bank details when I have told them 3 times, just fobbing me off, I knew we wouldn't get a refund but I thought I would try.

    So upset :(. Lesson learnt
  • Missymr,

Do not give up, keep e-mailing them reminding this company of their legal obligations and especially that you have complied with their seven day cancellation policy. Take all the advice and information supplied on this forum as a guide as to how they will treat you.

Unless you are happy about losing the money, keep up the momentum and get your cash back!

Please let us know how you get on.....it will help others in this situation as it helped me.

    Regards

  • I too fell for the DVLA 'not' website. In a hurry, late home, trying to cook tea...son wanting me to sort his Provisional Licence out. Okay, pass me the laptop..
My first thought was "oh crumbs, I thought you said it cost £50. Oh well, must have gone up, typical"
The next day upon checking in my lunch break. Soon realised what I had done. What an idiot ! Cancelled it right away. Then.
Long story short- Daily emails sent to them asking nicely to send a refund. In 2 weeks I only had 2 emails from them. 1 asking for my bank details & 2nd saying they had technical problems, hence no refund.
After days worrying & loosing sleep. I emailed yesterday (my daily email) stating I was now out of patience, giving them until the following day to send my refund or I was going to report them to Trading Standards. The Police & WOULD seek legal advise.
Got home tonight & refund in my account.
So, don't give up. Keep emailing them. I have most definitely learnt my lesson. Read the small print. X

You state in your first sentence that you wasn't paying attention or reading about what you was about to purchase.

:rotfl:@ reporting to the police. What crime has been committed?!

Thank you Nipped, i kept sending my details of where to send the refund which they kept requesting for even though I had already sent them. They have now replied saying they have passed it to the refund department which we should get within 10 days  We will see, I am not expecting one.
